I know some may see this poll as a bit pointless, but I am interested to see how many people have a similar view on DVA's - it's a subject I'm quite interested in so it'd be good to see what the general opinion is

Although I can't stand DVA's, period, out of your list, the new Picc one has really grown on me, and compared to Emma Clarke and CELIA, she wins hands down. However, seeing as he is not quite extinct yet, my favourite is definitely the male Picc one!

However, seeing as he is not quite extinct yet, my favourite is definitely the male Picc one! I was never keen on that one, seemed to basic to me. I think the Jubilee one is pretty naff, as it features (at least) three voices! I'm not too amazed with the Vic and Bakerloo ones either, the way they are scripted and voiced is not too good, and the Central one does Emma the most justice

I think the Jubbly is, [and its not because I work on it!] clear, always the right volume, and knows when to shut up. I love the Northern, but it just keeps repeating itself, the Jubbly one on the Northern would be the best then! ;D

The problem with the Jubbly one is that it gets stuck. Heading westbound from Stratford we got the announcement at West Ham, then nothing until the approach to Southwark where it suddenly launched into the Canning Town announcements, followed immediately by the North Greenwich ones, etc. It hadn't caught up by the time I got off at Waterloo!

I've never found that! Anyone got any recordings to share, or a link perchance?

Jubilee Line for me.
Whenever I hear 'Willesden Green' announced in the way it's announced, I can't help but break out into a fit of laughter. ;D

My own personal destination on a DVA is West Ruislip - Emma does it in a perfect tone ;D

Mine is the Hong Kong MTR actually. It is brief and to the point, the lady sounds like an angel, and the Cantonese is five-star Hongkie style (with the sight drag at the end of anything) and the English more high class British than the average Brit.
Tsehng mat kau gohn tseh mun. Please stand back from the doors. [doors close, train leaves station] Ha yat zham Tong Lo Waan. Next station Causeway Bay.

I found the one on the Picc a little creepy for some reason when I first heard it.

Then they need to go to Hong Kong and check out the MTR's DVA (and PEDs) (but not the crowding and pollution)

Hmmm....the Northern original CELIA seems to have quite a following....very interesting................ Its ok, but 99% of the time, its too loud. Once a driver had it audible, but in the background, it was perfect, informative, but not overbearing. The repeat once it berths is a bit too much imho.

The other thing with the CELIA is that there's not many pre - recorded announcements built in, this can get quite repetitive. Some drivers abuse it too, like the one who played "This train will now terminate at Kennington. Please ensure you have your belongings when you leave the train" all the way from Waterloo platform into Kennington platform. Very annoying

Theres about 27 train messages in total. The most obvious 2 being This train is about to depart and Stand clear of the doors.
The only other ones i've heard are Customers are reminded that smoking is not permitted on London Underground trains, This train will now terminate at... please ensure you have all your belongings with you when you leave the train and Customers for Morden please change over to platform 4.
On the subject of the volume of it, I noticed that when the 1995 is below a certain speed the volume seems to automatically decrease. Then when the train accelerates again the volume goes back to normal.

Maybe it's the same thing as the C-Stock? I rememeber Colin saying to us that, because there is less noise under 7mph, and while at stations etc (on C-Stock), there are two different volumes, and once the speed increases above 7mph (IIRC), the 'normal' volume will return. You notice it at Embankment, Cannon St etc.

The DVA on the DLR is rather good as well, clear and it doesn't ramble on too much
