I took this on the train from Swindon to Stroud last Weds after the meet. FGW as usual: good instructions. The quiz is: guess how many coaches the train had?

Why 5? Can't see the logic!

Thought it looked like one on the Adelantes, => 5 cars.
Don't get me started on First... "We'll transfer some knackered old buses to this route, but pretend they're "new", so ooh lets put the fares up... eeeh? why do less people use this service then? might have to put the frequency down... hang on, why are even less people using it? have to put the fares up again..."
ad infinitum

It's got to be 1! To be fair, it does acknowledge in the next step that the first may not be possible.

FGW use one on the Southampton > Test Valley route. I have seen 'LEICESTER' and 'SUDBURY' as destinations! Ridiculous when you need several usually, although three seems to be the norm down to Pompey.
RAIL mentions that there is now a FGW early Cardiff two-car train that heads down into Wilstshire that is bursting by Keynsham and sometimes punters can't get on at that stop!

That's (Ex-)Wessex Trains literature, well observed. ......FGW can't be bothered to correct Wessex' mistake!!!

In First's one-coacher one must observe "1" mustn't one? One must!

To be fair (ish) the 153s are often run in multiple, the last one I was one was coupled to a 150 on the Weymouth-Bristol TM route, I have even seen a 153+158+150 combination - although this was an Arriva Trains Wales formation it did use an ex-Wales and Borders 153 which was the other half of the Wales and West TOC that begat Wessex Trains and used the same information style.
The other day I took a two-car Cardiff-Pompey train from Bristol to Southampton that was full and standing the entire journey. There was a good reason why Wessex spent money making extra 3-car 158s. Why FGW don't use Adelantes on peak journeys on this route I don't know as the capacity is certainly needed.
