But what is the optimum length of time for 'mashing' your tea. I personally leave it a good five mins (bag in cup) as I like very strong tea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- It gives the optimum in the museum site quoted above in another post in this thread 5032. I see. So I am right with my five minutes mashing time. I'm not sure about the tea that bloke is pouring though, it looks like gnat's p*ss to me.

since this thread is going to continue till doomsday, a question to our Yorkshire tea expert: is sugar permitted in Yorkshire tea or is it reckoned to ruin its fine taste?
Just thought i'd stir things up a bit ;D

Just thought i'd stir things up a bit ;D A very tealightful joke! I'd say no, it's not permitted. Sugar ruins the natural flavour of tea, so it becomes a tea based beverage. Tea is drunk with milk so the cups don't crack, but adding sugar has no benefit. It spoils the tea since you are changing it. If tea was meant to have sugar, i'd be mixed in with the leaves or bags.

However Arsenic/Strychnine in the Mother-in-law's cup is beneficial so I'm told

Quite true, quite true, and if you had seen some of the things I have seen put in someone's tea whilst temporarily away from it you would go green.

I'm constantly asked about why I like tea and probably owe you an explanation: Tea has done an awful lot for me. It kept me satisfied whilst self-catering in Italy. My dad had an accident and was in hospital so we couldn't get to a supermarket for a while. All we had to drink was the remains of 2 litre bottles of lemonade and some warm squash. I had a box of Yorkshire Tea in my bag so I was OK. (No milk though!)
Tea is a great conversation starter. Talk about tea and everyone gets invloved. (Hey, it worked here!)
Tea saves the lives on thousands in thrid world countries and gives sustainable jobs.
Tea is stooped in histroy. It's one of the things which is unchanged throughout the centuries.
Tea is liked by everyone. (well, except DS.)
Tea cures all!

Namely the finger can't type as fast as the brain works. (In my case the other way round)

But you never had the benefit of being taught touch-typing at school as I hope Chris was. Unless Chris is dyslexic (in which case sorry Chris!) does he not like the rest of us check our spelling before we post: I cannot remember a single post I have not had to correct before submitting due to my disobedient fingers!

I'm not dyslexic , k.o.? Basically, think and type, but think quicker! Touch typing is the reason this time. I can just about to it, but there are some letters i slip up on. They've never taught us anything like touch typing, i've had to teach myself. But my spelling isn't great. I'm too lazy to go back through it to check or use that spell checker thing. I had on of them spell checker things at school once, but it had a hangman game on there so i was easily distracted! You should see my handwriting spelling! I miss the last letter off words all too often! I'll let you know my English grade when I get it!

Just copied this from the Yorkshire Tea site:
Win Yorkshire Tea Would you like to win a year’s supply of Yorkshire Tea?
We know how intrepid Yorkshire Tea drinkers can be, so we’d like you to send us your photos that show you drinking a cup, or two, of Yorkshire Tea in an unusual place. Whether that’s on a mountain top, in a hot air balloon, or simply enjoying your favourite tea on the other side of the world, we’d love to hear from you. For the most unusual photograph and story recieved by Friday 30th September 2005, we’ll send you a parcel containing a years supply of Yorkshire Tea. I feel my holiday snaps may have a Yorkshire Tea feel!(Oh yeah, as of friday (5th) i'll be away until the 19th so i'm not ignoring you lot. This is why I can't come to the meet, but you'll see what i look like when my photo is the winning one in the competition!)

Sorry for opening up an old thread but I didn't want to make a new topic for an observation i made today.
During this Kings cross shutdown we run in a set order on the westbound district through the city as everything is running to a 10 minutely frequency.
The trains run in this order:
Baker street Richmond Ealing Broadway Wimbledon
Can you find this sublimimnal message? ;D
See the underground does run on it!!

So that explains the slight thirst I kept experiencing this afternoon. Then it subsided a bit when I sent an out-of-turn. Glad I didn't notice the message when earlier I sent a "Special" followed by "Parsons Green" then the Ealing and Wimbledon. I was eating my dinner at the time ;D
