No just the crossing is being moved slightly for 7b at Plaistow
The points at the Upney end of Barking are being cut into the new room so SMA6 testing can begin along with East Ham

Thanks for that. I did wonder why they were not running a service between East Ham and Upminster.

Im sure maybe the wall that fell is also get some attention None planned. It's a possession for Thales who were particularly concerned that any attempts to deal with the wall might have an adverse effect on the signalling system, they asked that no work is done that could affect the successful testing at Barking and East Ham (including the final testing out from Barking signal cabin).

There was always doubt that a resignalled Edgware Road could remain a bottle neck to 32tph along the top of the Circle line without relaying both ends with high-speed points. Has this become clearer after almost a year of practical experience? How does it now work during service disruption, which can add to the number of train movements during recovery?

Keeping the pneumatic point operation has certainly helped, had electrical versions been installed I think a different outcome.

There was still a plan last year to convert Edgware Road to Electric points this year. As you can see, nothing has come of it. I think the 'high speed points' is a bit of a misnomer, the site constraints have always meant the track designers are essentially limited in what they can provide and the switch lengths weren't going to be massively different, just in flat bottom rather than bullhead, and with Electric point machines rather than pneumatic.
With regard to @aetearlscourt's comment; Acton Town is just this Christmas and one closure immediately after New Year's Day - Christmas 2021 is planned for another job.

Sorry to be so specific but may I ask what the renewals will be at Acton please during these closures? Points renewals one would assume from the previous comments - 40AB on the WB roads maybe?

Resulting in a District and Piccadilly closure through Acton Town 24-30 December 2020. Sorry to be so specific but may I ask what the renewals will be at Acton please during these closures? Points renewals one would assume from the previous comments - 40AB on the WB roads maybe? I was wondering about 71 72 73 on EB, as there is a full closure of Ealing Common Depot east access 2 November-5 December 2020.

Is Acton Town work still part of the SSR upgrade 10 years after the first S stock trains arrived? I know the depot upgrade is part of that. Or is it the start of works for the Picc line upgrade?

Acton Town (and anything beyond Barons Court) is now descoped from 4LM, with the exception of any outstanding depot works. The future of the Piccadilly Line Upgrade is currently unclear, other than enabling works for the new trains.

Has this become clearer after almost a year of practical experience? How does it now work during service disruption, which can add to the number of train movements during recovery? Travelling through the area on a daily basis, it's been fine the past few months but I put that down to most of the service running bang on time due to Covid factors. Out of sequence running through both Praed Street Jct and Baker Street Jct is still problematic with blocking back often occurring as trains are manually given the code through the junctions. One of the stranger things I noticed but haven't been able to follow up since lockdown was the odd route call behaviour around Edgware Road. I had a feeling that this might have been a consequence of trains entering the system at Paddington (District) and the route logic of the Vehicle Control Centre (VCC) getting updated at very short notice. Whatever is causing it, it certainly isn't helping with the throughput of trains through the area on the current timetable. One can only surmise what will happen when Aldgate, Minories and Aldgate East Junctions get the Thales treatment in 2021.

Is Ealing depot now all powered points? Is there a central control, or still east and west cabins?

The DR will be closed until the end of August between Tower Hill and Barking. Sullivan Buses has the contract to supply the replacement bus service Tower Hill-All stations to Bromly-by-Bow, Canning Town and fast to Barking.

Correct as a system they proposed to automate both Upminster and Ealing Common Depots can not deal with the thru put required when trains are entering and leaving service. So for the time being the shunters will remain in place in both depots

Everything not converted to Surelocks at the west side of Acton Town, the east side of Acton Town is due for renewal next Christmas. No, it's not. Christmas 2021 is planned for a remodelling at Northfields. I was on a site visit for it last night.

more then likely to get rid of the slips Spot on - plus renewing a few other ends of points. We are however moving off the subject of the resignalling of the Subsurface lines, despite the District line heritage of the Hounslow branch.

How concrete are the migration boundaries now that SMA's west of Baron's Ct and south of Fulham Bdwy have been kicked into the long grass? Is there now a case in SMA 5 in particular moving south to Putney Bridge to ensure a clean break?

How concrete are the migration boundaries now that SMA's west of Baron's Ct and south of Fulham Bdwy have been kicked into the long grass? Is there now a case in SMA 5 in particular moving south to Putney Bridge to ensure a clean break? I guess anything is possible at a price, and Parsons Green will be left out on a limb, the only area remaining controlled from Earl's Court. However, don't expect anything in the short term. All Circle line areas, including SMA5 around Earl's Court, have been commissioned for shadow running since January 2019, so monitoring the service and should have bedded in. They wouldn't want to tamper with it now. The west end of the District line was to use the cheapest Thales version, with existing signalling remaining but new equipment to allow S stock to operate automatically as elsewhere. This has already been installed to Ealing Broadway and will have to be paid for. Would the savings from modifying the contract justify the cost of developing new change-over points? Putney Bridge might be a later SMA5.5 to include Parsons Green, but Wimbledon will need to cope with 20tph when Picc upgrade takes over Ealing Broadway service so probably will need the new system by then. Stamford Brook could become a later change point instead of Barons Court, but again would it offer service benefits to justify the cost. It could be for just Richmond trains, and use the currently installed equipment for auto-running to Ealing, but perhaps that is a costly complication. Those two former areas were to be confined as one area since early in the resignalling program, but I have not heard of any installation to Richmond which was originally going to be first with a change-over point at Chiswick Park.

Both Stamford Brook and Putney Bridge have been mooted as potential boundary locations, but they are both currently excluded from the plans.

So for the time being the shunters will remain in place in both depots hmm, I read this as automation still not being as good as human control. I could begin to think about other locations with busy / complicated pointwork too!
