It has to be warm custard, though, otherwise it's revolting.

Nothing wrong with that kind of combination... It would be great if people could give a rough indication if they intend to come - this will assist in planning the pre-pub activities.

Yes please (Assuming nothing comes up between now and then of course, but I doubt it will). (That's to coming to the Christmas meet, by the way, not fish fingers and custard)

I maybe/maybe not be there should we decide that perhaps this might be the date to meet as and where it could possibly happen. Is that clear enough PS: yes, I'll be there

I may make an appearance, though I'm not that keen on custard.
Next transport related thing for me (apart from building trains, I work for Hitachi), is the Euston tour on 23rd Oct.

Sadly I will not be able to attend although I would like to put faces to names but as I work in retailing getting a Saturday off so close to Christmas is impossible.

Am I too late to put my name down for this? I aim to come down from the north west for this - travel down early on the day and go back the same evening.

Not at all. By North West do you mean Harrow (North West London), Manchester (North West England*), or Kyle of Lochalsh (North West UK)?
*Other countries are available

Unfortunately I don't have the duck that I appeared with in the Bash Mash picture, but I shall have some more.

Any updated information on this? I was going to come last year but the thread went so quiet that I didn't really know what was happening. This year it is on my birthday but will definitely stop by!

We will definitely convene in our traditional location of the Penderel's Oak for food and/or drink. The staff are just finalising what we will be doing beforehand, this is dependent on a number of factors dropping into place, we will let you all know (via the usual channels) once our plans are confirmed. Our general format is to meet up about 11am for railway based activity, then be in the pub from about 1pm; it's highly likely that we will follow this format this year, though of course the times may change to fit the plans.

The forum staff are pleased to announce that our proposed morning activity has been given the go-ahead. We are extremely pleased to be able to invite members to a unique, behind-the-scenes tour of a working and operational station. However because we are so lucky we are taking a (hopefully understandably) cautious approach. Unfortunately, by the nature of what we have planned, the number of people able to take part is restricted. If you wish to take part you need to: - Be able to rendezvous at a station along the northern edge of the Circle line at 1100 on 10 December 2016.
- Be physically able, this means able to walk over some uneven surfaces and climb stairs; able to bend and/or stoop.
- Be over 18 (under 18s are welcome at Penderel's Oak afterwards, as per usual)
- Have good eyesight, such that you are able to see in reduced light levels.
- Be happy in confined/enclosed spaces, potentially with dust (asthmatics, be aware). If you're not happy in a smallish lift, you may struggle.
- Wear clothes that you don't mind potentially getting a little grubby.
- Understand that all participation is entirely at your own risk.
Please don't be put off by any of the above, we're not taking you on the Via Ferrata or anything like that - we just need to make sure that we allocate places to those who are able to take part. If all of this hasn't put you off then please send an expression of interest, your full name and a contact e-mail address by PM to rincew1nd before 2359 on 30th November 2016. Do bear in mind that expressing an interest does not guarantee participation. It is anticipated that we will be in touch with those who have shown an interest over the weekend of 3rd/4th December, either giving them the good news or the not so good. Those lucky ones will be given a precise meeting location and more information about the event. Once chosen you will have to be happy to agree to some other minor restrictions which should not be too difficult - no alcohol before 11am, for example. For those not taking part in the morning excursion, then we shall gather from 1300 in the Penderel's Oak. Details of a 'forum phone' will be circulated nearer the date, or just look for the custard!
