Trouble is in order to re-open all the doors we first have to close them........ That seems like an oversight. I would have thought that there would need to be a way for the driver to quickly open all the doors should there for some reason be a need to quickly evacuate a train that is in a station. Excellent point. Imagine a scenario where, with a train at a terminus, and most of the doors closed, a carriage begins to fill with smoke. The passengers open the doors in that carriage and start to evacuate. Someone makes the driver aware of the problem and he goes through a close/open cycle. Although I doubt the doors in the smoky carriage would actually close much, the fact that they are trying could cause a panic. And what if the system needs to sense that all the doors actually have closed (the state at which the system illuminates the pilot?) in a situation where there is a real fire. Would the fact that the driver has started an 'all close' operation, that is unlikely to succeed in the short term, stop passengers in adjacent carriages from opening the doors as the fire spreads?

Whilst it might not occur to the driver to do it, setting up the platform close option (ie, setting the train up as if to tip it out) will automatically open all the doors that have auto closed and will keep them open.
I do accept though that the first action most drivers will likely take in a scenario where they feel all the doors need to opened is to close and then re-open........and of course they'll probably forget to turn the auto close off.....

What happens if you stab the close button then immediately hit the open ones? Wasn't there something on the older stocks if you didn't hit the buttons right?

Surely the doors can be programmed so the car/doors by the main entrance stay open?
