As promised - I'll update......
I've just scored 866 years (cumulative total - two are 102 years old) worth of timetables off my dealer ;D - the average age of the TTs is 79 years - in the heap I have a lovely and almost unread (with board covers, so must have been an office copy) Met No 1 (65) and Met No 2 (66) both starting on the 28th November 1938 - the Met No 1 has bold trains with column note 'K' to Barking - give me a wee while to process them and I'll give you an answer..

Right (now I'm drained) ; from the November 1938 Met TT: SCHEDULED MAKE UP OF TRAINS AND SUMMARY OF STOCK REQUIREDWEEKDAYS CIRCLE 5 cars 15 trains HAMMERSMITH 6 cars 24 trains KENSINGTON 2 cars 2 trains EAST LONDON LOCAL 4 cars 4 trains SNUDAYS CIRCLE 4 cars 8 trains, 5 cars one train all Met Line, 4 cars 1 train (Dizzie line - can't cross-check as Le Wazzo Grande [1] is currently asleep in the LU library) HAMMERSMITH 6 cars 8 trains EAST LONDON LOCAL 2 cars 2 trains, 3 cars (HAMMERSMITH stock) 2 trains. Service pattern similar if not identical to those previously enumerated - does that help? I'm off to process a City Widened Lines from 1915. ;D ;D ;D [1] the Big Bird, one of the tribe of lodgers: normally I could disturb him for matters timetable-uary but as it's his 30th birthday and he's gotta drive a steam engine in the morning I'd better not.

You know I'm sure I read something in a past copy of 'Underground News' (or even 'Underground'!) on this very topic just the other week. It might have included an artical by Peirs Connor? Can't remember now. Oracle might be able to confirm.

B, don't know if my old mate Piers did write...most probable! I can't see it was in UndergrounD but I'll check to see if it was in any of my copies I have here. I'm wondering if anything was in the CO/CP story by Piers?

October 1941 All shown as 6 car trains. Weekdays first one off Barking 6.5am until 9.39am all 'K' SE starts again at 4.31 1/ 2pm until 6.39pm. SO morning busy finished also 9.39am. all with 'K' column galley note. SO again starts at 11.51 1/ 2pm until 2.0pm. 'K' also. Again no Barkings on Snuday. Worth commenting that the not-Snuday timetable is split into three sections Weekdays, Saturdays Excepted, Saturdays Only. "The COP Stock Story" pp 8 and 9 describes the relationship of stock to the Barking service. It says that the service between Uxbridge and Barking was withdrawn on 6th October 1941 and the Hammersmith to Barking service re-instated. This seems to tie in with mrfs42's list above which shows 6-car trains from Oct 41. You couldn't run 8-car trains to Hammersmith (and still can't). AFAIK, there was no resumption of the Uxbridge to Barking service either during or after the war. The times mrfs42 quotes from later timetables must be for Barking to Hammersmith trains.

The November '38 TT is in the 'analysis pile' at the moment - some moves are left off the No 1 section galley - in particular Hammersmith terminators from the ELL [1]: they are just shewn in the ELL section which is at the back of the No 1 section.
[1] in other words the times for New Cross/New Cross Gate - Hammersmith; Hm - Barking; Bkg - Hm; Hm - NX/NXG are shewn, as the general pattern seemed to be that all units did a jaunt down the East London either before or after a spin to Barking. However Trains off the East London going to stable at Hm Depot are not in the main No 1 section galley - makes it very confusing when trying to make a note of the stock diagrams.
I'll have a look and see if there are any Uxbridge - Barking services in the '38 WTT - there certainly should be, but I've only been looking at it from the East London side of things - will report later in a bit more detail (rather than just skimming over the Barking times with the 'K' column note).

There shouldn't be any Barking - Uxbridge services because the through service only started in July 1939!

True! Sorry, was concentrating on doing about 40 x 10 6 other things at the time, so ignore the last paragraph. ;D
