Ladies & Gents,
Following a review of the forum staffing arrangements we recently announced two new Administrators. We're now pleased to announce that we have Six new Moderators. Welcome to the team DistrictSOM, Dom K (formerly bigbaddom), MoreToJack, superteacher, tut and whistlekiller2000.
This does mean that some of those in the team are no longer in the role. We'd like to publicly put on record our appreciation and thanks for the time and effort Angelislington, DavidH, Harsig, MRFS and Tomcakes contributed to the running of District Dave's London Underground Forum.
The Admin Team.

I'd like to add my personal thanks to those leaving the moderator team. Their hard work over the previous years has made this forum what it is today, the new mods have some big shoes to fill though I'm sure they will succeed in their new roles.

Will you be growing marrows in Kent, or bee keeping in Sussex?

Will you be growing marrows in Kent, or bee keeping in Sussex? My cucumbers are coming on a treat. I've currently run out of jars for pickling stuff.

Congratulations to the 'new' recruits on going green. A hot half-dozen if ever I saw one.
And thanks to the 'retired' ones, who will hopefully be contributing still to the forum they've helped shape into what it's become today.
There's only thing more to say, to you all, so I'll let the guy who wrote the song, long before even I was born, say it:

Congratulations. As to the departing mods, five are leaving. I could understand one or two, but five? Is this change for changes sake? Were all five happy to pass on the mantle. Not causing trouble, just find it strange that 5 respected long standing members are no longer mods.

As to the departing mods, five are leaving. I could understand one or two, but five? Is this change for changes sake? Were all five happy to pass on the mantle. Not causing trouble, just find it strange that 5 respected long standing members are no longer mods. The main jobs of a moderator are to encourage discussion, and when the rare occasion warrants it, act as a 'policeman' and enforce our rules. Secondary to that there are a number of other things they do behind the scenes such as new account approvals, six month thread locking, periodic pruning of the membership list, etc. Whilst not wishing to delve too much into things and start getting personal, some of the five haven't been logging in much recently - in the case of one it was well over a year - that isn't doing the forum justice and respected long standing member or not, certainly dosen't correlate with the first sentence above. We felt it was therefore time to refresh the team and arrived at what you now see in place.

Thanks for the reply Colin.
Reading your reply, raises a couple of issues.
Were the previous mods consulted about removing their moderator privileges, or was it done without their knowledge? I see DavidH has deleted his profile. Not a good thing, I found David to be very good.

In short yes, the topic of staff changes was raised in the staff area of the forum. All mods were asked first if they wanted to continue, before being told (in advance) that they would no longer be continuing in role.
All the admins have been clear that the outgoing mods have contributed a great deal to the forum in the past and thanked them for that publicly. However, as everyone's priorities change the time has come to move forward for the good of the forum as a whole.
