If that's true then it doesn't seem to be a very politically shrewd move by the RMT. It would certainly make me less inclined to support the strike if I were a night shift t/op, particularly if I had had no dealings with the sacked staff member and there had been no procedural issues with any interaction I'd had with the D&A testing.
Unless of course they are wanting to say that 100% of his colleagues at Morden supported the strike - 100% of 0 being 0 of course.

From what I've been told today is that the T/Ops from depots on other lines aren't very impressed. I bet they now wish they'd bothered to turn up and vote no for the strike.

I thought the point of the dispute is that LU's allegedly sloppy test procedures could cause any driver to end up with an unwanted P45, not just those at Morden.

Another thought on blood tests, and I don't know what the reality is on this, but would there be a legal issue with an employer 'requiring' an invasive medical procedure to be carried out on an employee for non-medical reasons. If it was presented as an option to an employee, Would it be fair to dismiss someone because they didn't 'consent' to what would might otherwise be construed as an assault, if done without consent?
I'm speaking with no authority on these legal issues, so would happily be corrected by someone who has.

According to the RMT link I put up, re information on this case:
Hendy Apologises Progress over this dispute was hampered by a statement made by TfL Commissioner Peter Hendy that **** ********(tbf's redaction) was found to be drinking at work. This statement was quickly withdrawn along with a written apology and acceptance that the allegation is NOT TRUE.
So, I'd simply add, you may wish to treat what other people 'have heard' as similar disinformation. Such Chinese whispers tend to start from on high, hence their name (after Civil Service 'mandarins'), so that the people who repeat the disinformation are in a lower position and, if called out by anybody, will have a job pointing the finger at the original source of the falsehood. Mr Hendy's blunder is the exception that proves the rule.

A little thing came to light this morning that might have an impact on the strike. As we know, the strike's between 21:30 to 03:59 hrs so will only impact on the night shift T/Ops at the larger depots on LU. The majority of RMT members voting for the strike came from Morden depot. However, guess what depot doesn't have night shifts? Funnily enough, it's Morden where the sacked driver came from. From what I've been told today is that the T/Ops from depots on other lines aren't very impressed. The Ballot Papers are sent to members home address, the only thing on the paper is a box for yes or no. How can you say the majority of RMT members voting yes for a strike came from Mordent Depot. Can you produce evidence of how you know this ?

From the RMT's website:
Also on the website is the result of the ballot, roughly 220 against, 300 for; a majority yes, but hardly a landslide.

But a far greater majority than the UK government generally manages to achieve - and they run the country. (Allegedly.) I'm still somewhat perplexed as to why they are having a strike before LU refuses to do whatever it said it wouldn't as a result of the court case. Both sides in this dispute seem to behaving like silly, spoilt, children. In both cases, primarily, for pre-empting the results of any employment tribunal.

The Morden depot result, again from RMT website, but archived, as it was done in November, was: Total Votes Cast… 58 Number Voting ‘Yes’… 45 Number Voting ‘No’… 13 Spoilt Papers… 0

Can you produce evidence of how you know this ? You're right, it was wrong of me to write that. What I should have written was that of the 299 T/Ops combine wide that voted for a strike, I'd think that a high percentage of that number came from Morden depot.

Even if you exclude them, a majority (255 out of 462, or 56%) voted for a strike.
