How times have changed in the 39 years since I started at LUL.Nowdays if someone turns up for work the worse for wear we have to get the D & A people involved. In the old days they were just left to sleep it off and nothing more was said.I was actually asked on a foreman's interview "What would you do if someone reported for duty drunk?"The correct answer was you wouldn't send him home in case he had an accident, you let him stay overnight in the canteen with another member of staff to make sure he was OK,and make an entry in the log book and do a report for the Depot Engineer.

Yep things do alter and not always for the better either. Whilst we had rules in those days they were not set in stone and inflexible like they are today. There was a carefree way of 'observing' them. Whilst rarely broken they were often bent.
