Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew why the eastbound departure board at Parsons Green (and putney bridge for that matter) never show the correct destination, or time to next train in a lot of cases. As passengers we've basically all just learned to ignore these as they don't show anything useful.
I think from memory that if i launch the citymapper app, this does normally show the correct times and destinations - so TFL must have access to the data, it's just not making it's way to the departure board for some reason?
thanks for any info!

The original dot matrix displays work off a different system. The newer type and app data comes from Trackernet
You wont find correct info at PG until the train has left Putney Bridge. And if at Putney Bridge it wont show correct info until physical on the bridge

Haha I wondered about how to phrase that sentence. Maybe:
On what do the displays base that which they show in the meantime?
Bit clunkier, maybe slightly clearer.
In other words, the displays at Putney Bridge are not able to show the correct information until the relevant train is physically on Putney Bridge. However, before that time they show something. How do the displays decide what to show in the meantime?

From NR at Waterloo they can show 2 codes a CITY train so that will be via Victoria, and then a High St Ken or I could be a wrong it might be Edgware Road. Aslong as the system is working it should also show the correct time if it is not working it usually shows the default 11mins. Once its on the bridge by WG2 signal the programme machine for the westbound S1 actually puts the TD up correctly then you will notice the signs suddenly change, now remember that is of course everything is working ok. If you still see CITY via Victoia even at West Brompton that means the service is not running to timetable and this will get changed at Earls Court.

On a similar topic, the westbound board at Stepney has been defective for some time (and, come to think of it, the WB Picc at South Ken too). They display the times of the trains correctly, but the destinations are totally random (Stepney often has trains up as Harrow OTH!). Any thoughts on how this happens?

The T/D system before Whitechapel can not show any main Met line T/D's. This must be a newer sign but why it shows a Harrow I have no idea. I have noticed several signs on the Picc being wrong recently but this is more common on the westbound

The Westbound board at Stepney often shows Northfields as well.

So they nicked the BS code then.
Northfields was a Richmond train when one of the codes was missing

So does the old Hounslow West code still exist?

The codes that used to exist are these
Ealing E Ealing common EC Ealing then depot ES Richmond R Wimbledon W Wimbledon non stop WN Northfields N Hounslow H Putney Bridge PB Parsons Green PG Met Line M Baker St BS Aldgate East AE Special S Hounslow non stop HN
The ones above were only for east of Whitechapel there is more once at Tower Hill
West Ken WK West Ken Special WS this is usually for the Olympia line then into the depot at Lillie Bridge
There is no specific codes for trains to enter Barons Court sidings, running down the fast between Hammersmith and Acton Town or even a Acton Town TD
The TD system is made up of a combination of ABCDE codes with the Met now H&C always having a E on the end.

Stepney Green still shows Wembley Park and Baker Street destinations.
Will it be something that can be fixed?

Because Met Line trains don't parallel the District. H&C trains do go to Baker Street but when it shows "Baker Street via King's Cross", it really means a District train.

Without knowing the codes involved I couldnt say what is wrong.
Plus has Stepney Green had the new signs yet? Last time I was there the westbound had the original DMI and the eastbound had the old light box.
