If you travel Virgin Cross Country you have to consult the tide times. Their trains have already been suspended recently due to bad weather and the sea sweeping over the top of the trains into the electrics, a design fault. The old First Great Western still get through

Dawlish featured heavily yesterday night in the series 'The Railway: First Great Western' (Channel 5), great viewing.

At the moment we are in the politicians are in love with the railways however I this will change over time and Beeching 2 will arise and them anything railway west of Exeter will be up for closure!
