Hi, All. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this post, please correct me if there is a problem. I was recently reading an AMA on reddit from a CSA (Customer Service Assistant) - (here if you want a long and quite enetertaining read - www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/13k9qm/i_am_a_london_underground_employee_ama/ ) Anyway, she said that they use there cards to let customers through the gate if there is an error code and I know this becuase this happened to me at King's Cross. I was wondering, do they not get any problems with same station exits and spending too much time on the network. I.e. Does there card get treated differently to other cards. Thanks, Aidan

They are different. I don't know quite how but I do know that it doesn't affect my travel if I swipe people through the gateline.

the staff oyster card has multi-tap enabled, in effect the staff card is designed solely to open gates not set up a route in the traditional sense. the staff nominee pass ( for partners etc) does not have this feature so it works like a traditional oyster but without the charges

when I worked on the datelines if you had someone double gating with someone they knew and they used an oyster we used to tap our staff pass on the gate three times in succession this was as told by a revenue control inspector that the oyster system computer would flag up the oyster and what was happening and help in revenue protection as revenue officials could track where the offending person(s) travels between.
