Hi all!

I understand that this has nothing to do with TfL, but, I was travelling through kings cross back in early November and saw the platform 9 3/4 attraction.

I had a few questions.

Who payed for it too built?
How long has it been there?
And, who benefits the money?

This thread is probably in the wrong place.

The only question I can answer is that it was installed after the first film was released, I'm not sure where it is now but I know it was moved from it's original home near between platforms 8 and 9 when the extension started to be built to outside the main station building. The last time I checked you weren't charged to see it but it has been a while.

It's been in at least four locations
- firstly to the left of the arch leading into the suburban station (this picture was taken before the trolley was added
-secondly in one of the cross passages between platforms 8 and 9 (accessible from platform 8)
- then on York way on York way
- and now in its present location on the new western concourse

The filming was actually done between platforms 4 and 5,

Interestingly, there was no (visible!) platform 9 until 1970
