Hello All
I have been a CSA for 2 years now and applied for the Train Operator role and am currently waiting to find out if I passed the first assessment. Whilst I await the results what is the best way to learn about the role? I have been in a cab on the Victoria line with a driver and he just pressed a button to operate the train as its an automated line. Any other suggestions?

Contact your DSM and say that you'd like to spend a day with a T/Op.
Alternatively, speak to a DTSM at your line's T/Op depot and say that you're interested in becoming a T/Op and you'd like to find out what they do. They can find a Instructor Operator to take you with them. However, knowing what coverage is like, you'll probably have to do this on your rest day.
For manually driven trains, you'll have to speak to a DTSM on the Piccadilly, District and Bakerloo lines.

Thanks for your advice rehostar you are correct I have been told that any shadowing needs to be done in my own time. Having found out of that I passed the first assessment I suppose the shadowing will help build my knowledge further
