Bus and trams go up by 5p, the cable car by 10p, general increases of other tickets around 3-5%, give or take, one day travelcards withdrawn and only Zones 1-6 cards remaining. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25197200Can someone tell me what the difference is between a One Day Travelcard and a Zone 1-6 Travelcard?

There are a variety of one day travelcards currently available - Zone 1 and 2; Zone 1 to 4; Zone 1 to 6; and Zone 1 to 9. Although it isn't clear in the BBC article, it seems that TfL are withdrawing all one day travelcard products bar the zone 1 to 6 travelcard.

Having to buy a 1-6 card when a 1-4 will do is very unfair when you live in SE London and need to get a bus to the station and use the main line for onward travel is not appreciated.
Having to touch in everywhere to get the daily cap can be a real pain on Oyster.

If you live in Zone 3 or 4, it's an 80p mark-up on a paper travelcard and a whopping £1.50 in Zones 1-2!

Its price was included in the mayoral decision document on the fares increase.

Let's hope public opinion will get the Zone 1-2/1-4 Travelcards reinstated...can't see this one going down at all well.

Let's hope public opinion will get the Zone 1-2/1-4 Travelcards reinstated...can't see this one going down at all well. I can't see that having any effect whatsoever given the Oyster caps for those zone combinations are retained. Public and political concern over the removal of Z2-6 and Z2-9 caps and daily Travelcards a few years ago made zero difference. I would like to see the old zone combinations retained or reinstated as I think it's a way of offering better value for money for passengers. Given the recent provision of extra pink validators there is no reason not to put back the Z2-6 and Z2-9 Oyster caps as an absolute minimum change. The problem, though, is that TfL have to screw every last penny out of fare payers given grant cuts. I did a little comparison between the latest business plan and the last two versions and the amount of revenue yield TfL is forecasting is huge on both bus and tube / rail. Some of that will be driven by new services like Crossrail and taking over some of the West Anglia routes but the rest implies some real pressure on fares levels. Anyway we now have to see what will happen to the published changes to the NR PAYG tariff and Travelcards prices given Mr Osborne's announcement of 3.1% increase for English rail fares. According to the BBC Local news TfL and City Hall had no warning that the Chancellor would make the announcement which seems a tad "shambolic" to me. All good fun!
