Hmm, not sure how to react. Although he was rather good, it was under he that some of the more popular stocks have been dispatched, A, D, 1967, dare I say it C stock. You can't help but wonder if the next C.O.O will be less "murderous". But in all seriousness, I think we will miss him. All the best Down Under!

He was being 'Hands On' on the Steam Train runs as well... I think he'll be missed - and to be fair, I think it's a shame he's going before he's got rid of all the rest of the rubbish stock

The plans to replace those stocks was possibly drawn up more than a decade ago. It’s just that the withdraws came to fruition during Howard Collins shift as COO. And to be fair he was highly visible at either the last running day or during the special tours. And as CSO has pointed out he was also visible at the recent 150 celebrations and without a doubt much of this would not have happened without his support. In my view Howard Collins is a true railwayman. He’s made his way up through the ranks and understands the railway. He’s a good people person and talks passionately about the railway. I think that with his retirement we have lost someone who is onside when it comes to us enthusiasts. Clearly a lot of the work Howard has done has gone beyond the expectations of his job. I hope that his successor is equally as keen on the railway (and us enthusiasts) as he has been!

Shame, I always liked Howard.
So when can we expect to see the COO position advertised on Source? I'll definitely apply! Haha.

He did not have very nice things to say about the Sydney rail system, www.railpage.com.au/news/article-12196/Lucky for me I am on the other side of the country and while we have a much smaller system it is at least modern.
