Geoff's released a new simulation for the Exeter area.
Want to spend 18 hours tearing your hair out? Get it!
So far I'm on the beginners version, have got about 8 hours into it, and even without any 'problems' it takes concentration.
Get it now and - being SIMSIG - it's free!

I can't understand those damn signalling things to save my life. Having said that I have never looked for or bothered reading any intructions. Maybe I should. But then again, how difficult can running a a few trains be!

But then again, how difficult can running a a few trains be! By not reading the "instructions" (i.e. the timetable) and by not learing one's patch then one is liable to put a train where another one needs to be. Why give it a go and find out? www.simsig.co.uk/

Why give it a go and find out? Yeah, maybe I will. I took the same attitude about teaching myself golf, but don't ask about that! I ended up with an average par of 7 on a 3 par course!

I have got it - no pile-ups so far (touch wood). I know the Exeter area like the back of my hand, so if anyone wants any pointers, do ask!!!

Hmmm... might have to download it.
But since when did Exeter panel control Paignton, especially Paignton South (Sands Road) LC?

Hmmm... might have to download it. But since when did Exeter panel control Paignton, especially Paignton South (Sands Road) LC? The coverage of the area is "fictional" (for the want of a better word). This is how the area would look if it were controlled by an IECC rather than a PSB. The same thing for the superb Stafford and North London Line simulations, which in reality are controlled by several different boxes.

Certainly as long as I've been going on Exmouth-Paignton trains in the sumer (a VERY long time). IIRC the platform 2 starter has "EX" plastered on it, and there is CCTV monitoring the level crossing, again, it must be from Exeter PSB.

UPDATE.... Now up to 15:26, score's 92%, had to remove two trains due to my own stupidity (damn!) but at least time recovered exceeds time lost. But, oh boy, it does get busy....... I wonder what it's going to be like when some 'scenarios' get added to the equation As Alan says, it's a fictional amalgamation of several areas, and I'm looking forward to when it can all be linked with Westbury, Swindon and Didcot - Network play anyone? More generally, (waves to Alan and Solidbond) does anyone know if Geoff's got plans for Reading and Paddington and 'points west' of Exeter too?? It'd be fantastic to have the complete 'Western Region' and, being a GWR man would make me very happy!

Nothing to it! But then being a real-life signaller helps one to take these things on board. Failures and delays cranked right up to relieve some of the boredom, and haven't had it running below double speed...yet. Mind you I am only up to around 10am and have had the Barnstaple train running nearly 2 hours late at one point following an earlier failure (turned short at ESD instead of going on to Exmouth). So there's time yet - and judging by some of the posts here, it gets better (or worse depending on your take ;D ) It's arrived just in time to whet my appetite for my forthcoming holiday in Devon - Dawlish to be precise. A nice week on the beach - with the wife looking towards the sea and my daughter and I looking inland (for some reason ) As for Paddington/Reading. Geoff has mentioned on his site that they both fall into the "Already an IECC therefore a conflict of interest in his current employment" catergory. So unfortunately there is unlikely to be a complete set for the GW.

It's been a year or so but last time I looked the Up starter was PN4, the first E signal was at Aller Junction.

Unfortunatly guys theres a legal isue with using Slough IECC, which controls Paddington. But i belive Reading is do able. Also theres a Bristol Beta, which when working completed wil integrate with the full Exeter, and reworked Swindon & Westbury.
hope to see you guys in the simsig forum, and possible at the simsig meeting/pi$$ up!

Why is it when I open the signal thing, it's all it HTML and not the proper thing?

when you say HTML when you open the 'signal thing' do you mean that all the tracks are letters, rather than the track circuits you expect? If so, then it is because the programme is not recognising the simsig font. The best thing to do in those circumstances is to download and install the Simsig System files, which are available on the main Simsig download page, at www.simsig.co.uk/html/downloads.html
