I'm certainly looking forward to meeting many of the new members this Christmas and catching up with old friends.

I too am looking forward to this (if this forum had a "like" button I'd have clicked it for metman's post as I can't say it better than he has).
It's also the day after my last deadline of the semester at uni, so a double reason to have a beer or several.

I know how you feel Chris. I am currently trying to start my dissertation and so I'm very busy at the moment. It's not easy to work full time and study! Hopefully, you can enjoy a well earned drink and a chat on Saturday.

Me too (looking forward). It's always a great occasion and nearly always generates some fun anecdote's.....
Custard-gate; AI being stopped by the fuzz in Acton High Street whilst carrying her purchase; Metman's chocolate pudding trick and so on. Oh, and the poor Frenchman who sat on our table for over an hour before he realised he was with the wrong group!

The chocolate cake trick may be on hold this year due to diets, you never know however....... ;D

Thanks, but you misunderstood what I was saying I'm awaiting confirmation as to whether I am needed at work for the afternoon (if I am not, then I can go to the pub!) and if I am, then I won't be at the pub for very long - rather than anything else!

The PM with the contact details has now gone out. If you need it and it's not with you (proboards regularly fails to PM all) please contact ME rather than the admin team account.
Thanks and look forward to seeing some of you.

We usually have a kitty but if you want to buy your own drinks that's totally fine. I think most people appreciate that times are hard, Christmas is coming and people have things planned (your trip sounds great btw! ) so nobody is going to mind if you sort yourself out. Look forward to seeing yourself and several others I've not met before.

Maybe I should explain my username.... It is from the Domestos advert from the 80s, it was a song about it, and people used to constantly sing it at me at school and it stuck! It doesnt mean anything else, as much as I get asked about it hehe

Sorry to sidetrack the discussion, but I've looked up and down for the etymology of this slang and found absolutely nothing - does anyone know where it originated?
