Can someone explain why, although all the cab bits are in the file, when I run Picc I only get the top part of the cab instruments: the bottom part which has the door controls is off the base of the screen. I can't see any zoom control. What to do?

use the num pad to navigate around the cab. There are arrows on 2 4 6 and 8.
To zoom use / on the num pad.
After using any of these controls press 5 on the num pad to go back to the default view.

Yes, NumPad will scroll down.

Not satisfied yet. Slash on my number pad does not work, but delete zooms in(and 2,4,6,8 all work). Zero zooms out but still does not go far enough to include both full forward view AND door controls.
What next?

I always have to use the 2 button to see the door status, and then 5 to get back to normal. Works fine for me. Do you have another keyboard lying around you could test or change the controls to a key that you defiantly know works?

So you're saying you DO have to scroll up and down. With this cab it's impossible to see everything at once?

So you're saying you DO have to scroll up and down. With this cab it's impossible to see everything at once? Yeah. you can see the speed dial/gauge windscreen ok, but you then have to press 5 to see the door status. After you've done that you got to work your way up again to see the windscreen.

Yes, unfortunately fitting it all on would mean the picture getting squashed too much, so I opted for the "scroll" option. Most cabs these days require scrolling to see everything, but unfortunately with the 73ts the door buttons are in a rather awkward position from the POV of BVE. However you are only likely to need to consult them at stations - I usually manage to go along fine and only really look at them when the doors play up. I could add a subtle indicator somewhere else on the panel high up if you really want - but when I've proposed that in the past I've been shot down by the purists.

Ta Tom. Answers from the horses mouth are always the best!
It's just I've recently been playing with the 158 and 323 (B x-c S) and the 170 (on Wimbleware!!!!!!!) so have got used to those cab views

I'm using a laptop......should the number keys work (the top row, as it doesn't have a numpad) ?

The numbers along the top cannot be used as they are for activating switches and/or lights in the cab.
You will have to change the key assignments in order to 'pan' as they call it in BVE:
On the BVE opening screen right click, go to options, controller tab, key assignments button, view tab, click the button for the assignment you want to change and press the key you want to change it to (don't use any of the keys used for controlling the trains). After that click OK and they should be changed.

I'm using a laptop......should the number keys work (the top row, as it doesn't have a numpad) ? If it's a recent laptop, isn't there a number lock which changes some of the offside keys ( P ; ] and the like) to numbers 0 to 9. All the laptops i've used have had that facility. Then you don't have to reprogram anything

Whenever you need to use the numbers on the numpad, you always need the Number Lock on or otherwise you end up putting yourself into reverse and all sorts.

I pressed 'fn' with the appropriate numbers and arrows on keys, but it STILL doesn't work

Did you reset the BVE controls after you tried changing them?
This may vary from laptop to laptop but I read that to activate the number pad you need to press fn + F8. The appropriate keys should then work as a number pad. I think it would be the same two keys to turn it off, also note that if you want to have the number pad active and use they keys for their letters you can press shift then press the keys.
Hope this makes sense!
