No soon does the "games period" end and planned engineering work returns with a vengeance - 6 TFL lines in all next weekend. No Jubilee between Finchley Road and Stratford. Surely all this work has finished and if not when?

Maintenance and renewal of the railway will never end as you can never make anything truly maintenance free. All you can hope for is to improve it to such a condition that the required maintenence is minimal. Major works and will be going on for some time yet.

How will they reverse trains at Charing Cross if they are removing asbestos?

How will they reverse trains at Charing Cross if they are removing asbestos? They definitely are using the 'usual' platforms to reverse on Saturday, every 4mins from Stanmore.

How will they reverse trains at Charing Cross if they are removing asbestos? This will be done on Sunday when the service is only running from Stanmore to Finchley Road.

Might have known the District would have work at the east end when West Ham are at home although credit to them they are opening up the line for the matches against Sunderland and Arsenal. The unusual times must be to allow the class 66's to get into position under possesion. Wonder if the crossover at Hornchuch is to be replaced.

Although inconvenient, i don't object to the works. But how about a little co-ordination? - until 0800 and after 2000, there's no Overground Service between Highbury and New Cross/Gate, meaning a chunk of SE London gets cut off again. Any bus replacement service will be a joke.
I can imagine the managers at London Underground and London Overground really hate each other and hardly ever speak.

Although I am not sure of the relationship between LU & LO managers, the fact that Mike Brown is MD of both LU and London Rail I would guess there should be no reason why both companies can't cooperate.
I could be wrong, but doesn't Network Rail own the track/ signals etc on the LO network the same as the rest of the rail network.
No engineering work is great, personally I'm having to drive a few times over the next month due to Kings Cross mainline not opening until beyond 1000 and the "replacement" offering is either travel down night before or endure a 4 hour bus/train/bus/tube replacement. At least within London you do have options, if not always as convenient.

The bad old days are set to return. The works programme shows closure between Stanmore and West Hampstead alternate weekends in October and November, and in January. More gridlock along Kilburn High Road as replacement buses take half an hour or more over an impossibly convoluted route for a journey that normally takes 4 minutes. After we endured four years of such lunacy during the upgrade. And presumably this is set to continue for several more years for the Met resignalling! TfL are really taking the p*ss!

Both LU & LO are TfL subsiduaries, so one would hope for co-operation - but it seems to be out of fashion these days, even within the different bits of LU & LO. I believe that's the case - except on the ELL, where AIUI Network Rail manage TfL owned infrastructure on the 'new' and ex LT sections.

Yes. London Overground is nothing fancy, just a standard TOC in the same way London Midland are. Except they are linked with TfL, so they have a very strong brand image (and TfL own the ex-East London Line, which they give to Network Rail to maintain)

I note this is an H&C service with 5 C Stock running every 7½mins West Ham-Barking, using both platforms at West Ham. I am sure this changed again as you say leaving only a service between West Ham and Barking. and this Saturday the publicity seems to show a service between Plaistow and Dagenham east approx 0730hrs with an all day service between West Ham and Plaistow. How will they provide a train between West Ham and Plaistow unles one is left overnight. I realise this is all to do with getting class 66 locos upto Hornchurch under possesion. www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/track.aspx?offset=weekend

Passed Horchurch on the C2C What are they doing at Hornchuch that requires three ballast trains with a 66 (I think) at each end, a tamping machine, another engineers train with a battery loco at each end. They are also replacing the platform nosing stones at Upminster.

Elm Park to Hornchurch work is booked as drainage work, must be lifting out track, digging out old drains, put in new drains, put back track, lay new ballast, then tamp the track.
