Otherwise known as 5234 is currently undergoing (what is in reality) an heavy bogie overhaul at Neasden.
It the part - moves, swings or turns, it will be replaced. Any remaining A60 spares have been fitted to the unit. Hopefully to keep it running for a few more years yet.
5110 is also due the same treatment I believe.

I'm guessing the units for the railtour have recieved their extra TLC then?

This confirms my post on one of the A stock threads. The R A T is highly likely to be the one used on the special tour.

This confirms my post on one of the A stock threads. The R A T is highly likely to be the one used on the special tour. By the time of the tour the RAT would be required (or very nearly required, but at least formed up as 5 cars) for RAT duties - so one of the existing non-RAT trains (cleaned up) for the tour maybe? Interesting to see what is actually used at the end of the day.

My bets on 5118 being on it. What's the news on the third preserved unit (if ever there will be one)?

There will be no preserved unit(s) per se. There will be the two 5-car RATs (which could, of course, be reduced to four cars for anything special required outside the RAT season), the 4-car spare unit at Acton (should either of the RATs become damaged and needed replacement) and one "car" for the LT Museum.

Exactly, which means that the railtour will be formed of the final pair of serviceable units other than those already mentioned. The units have been surveyed and detailed work has now begun to smarten them up so that they give the right impression. There will be some mechanical work, but this will hopefully be mainly thorough examination.

Isn't there a risk the RAT might getting eaten up by one of the snakes?

Pray, with what would a snake handle itself.
