I haven't purchased any of them myself, nor is this my own opinion of them...
In general, the feedback I have read about Cab View Driver is that they're a rip off, poor quality and inaccurate. For example, trains that pass a station via through lines (like the arrangement at, say, Totnes) are still required to stop next to the platform despite the fact that passengers would clearly have no means of hopping off so to speak!
ONCE AGAIN, THAT WAS NOT MY OWN OPINION, AND... On the other hand, it's been yonks since I read anything about CVD so for all I know the latest editions could be superb!

They actually look really old. The Bournemouth - Weymouth was filmed when they were still using Class 50 diesel loco's, and that was at least 16 years ago. And it was still in Network South East Livery. I havn't got any myself, and wanted opinions before i considered getting one. I have come across a same type of game which is FREE and you can either play it online or download it and play it. Sound good? It is, except not being able to understand or read Japanese doesn't help any, but you can still figure it out. It's a bit jerky if you play it online, and the screen is a bit small, but give it a go anyway if you have time! homepage2.nifty.com/rail/ Some of the links are in English, so you can kind of get the idea of it!

I have a few, Chris.
If you're buying a CD - you will probably be dissapointed as they are only smooth if you are going the same speed as the train was when the video was shot. Also, if you are a stopper say from London to Basingstoke and you have to stop at Farnborough, you have to stop on the fast lines as the train that the video was filmed from didn't stop there and was on the down fast.
The DVDs are smoother but the problems still remain.

The DVDs are smoother but the problems still remain. Yes, that is the downside. Now with the advent of BVE4, i very rarely used my CVDs! My Dad does like his signalling sims, as he thinks that simsig is too hard, hehe we will soon sort that out!
