Nice one Dennis. Well done.
As a matter of interest, all of the 'contentious' units have now gone (5585, 5734, 5548 and 5606), with 5606 being the last which left Northwood a few minutes ago.

can anyone confirm that 5718 is still in service? as I had a ride on this set along with [5514.5605] on working 211 on Wednesday 20th nov. did I write it down wrong as it shows on the withdrawn list for c stock that it went in September.

I believe that maybe an error on my part, looking back at the list of withdrawals, it isn't there. List corrected.

How many unit were ordered (both 69 and 77)? I've just counted on the withdrawal list that there is only 75 units (25 trains left) how many C stock trains are used on the District line?

Total 139 units plus three extra cars 106 C69s, 33 C77s, plus an extra DM car to replace 5585 written off in the 1976 West Ham IRA bomb. Two extra "C08" trailer cars built to replace the two destroyed on 7/7
Since the C77s were built specifically to allow the fleet to be expanded to cover the Wimbleware, (although the C69 and C77 fleets are not differentiated in use) I would assume roughly eleven trains are needed for the District (including maintenance cover). The round trip takes about 70 minutes and runs every 10 minutes

8 trains of 3 x C Stock are used on the Wimblewares (Trains 70-77) which equates to 24 2 car units. AFAIK there aren't any spare C stock for maintenance cover, they are all used, everyday.

As of now there are still 24 trains of C Stock (50 C69 and 22 C77 - total 72 units - 24 trains) with 22 having been scrapped or are in the process of being scrapped. Two of the District Line C Stocks start and finish at Hammersmith, so these are the maintenance changeovers for that service. Whether all 24 C Stocks trains are 'active' or not is another matter, for any serious defect on a unit might render it uneconomical to repair. This was the case with 5566 recently, which sat down at South Kensington on 8 November for over two hours. This was sent on its merry way for scrap ten days later.

Sent for scrap because of a flashed over motor, wouldn't of been better to replace the motor and then they would of had a spare?

The withdrawal list now has 5582/55625542 as withdrawn in 2013, why a big date range?

There are two more 'C' Stock trains at Neasden presumably for scrapping. Passed at speed this morning but looked like 5571+5731+5597 and 5602+5535+5724. Perhaps someone could confirm.
