Are there any plans either to preserve a car or unit at Acton or to retain any C Stock as service vehicles?

According to the "infallible" Wikipedia, the C08 sets (5606, 5734) are going to be saved by the LTM.

None until the end of the month. But obviously anything can happen.

According to the "infallible" Wikipedia, the C08 sets (5606, 5734) are going to be saved by the LTM. The claim that a C08 is to be saved has been on Wikipedia for months... so your tongue-in-cheek reference to the "infallible" Wikipedia is, almost certainly, more accurate that the claim it seems to be making I'd just like to flag that the claim reads " C08 stock will be preserved in London Transport Museum (Acton Works) after retirement." My impression is that this sentence has been placed into the item incorrectly... as after the full stop and Citation Needed [This claim needs references to reliable sources - December 2012], there is refernce to two other cars (5548+6548) being rebuilt in part following the bombings. My take is that someone has made up that claim in the hope that it might be right (a pin-the-tail-in-the-donkey exercise)... as it remains unproven after more than 10 months after being made.

As a old-timer editor for Wikipedia, I have removed the offending phrase due to lack of citations.

Why the pause in getting rid of more C Stock? Surely there are still plenty of S Stock ready to be entered into service?

5604 should be listed as withdrawn in the master list and not 5605
It is reported on another forum that 5539+5704+5725 were removed from Ealing Common Depot by road yesterday (16.10.2013)

They were moved from Acton Works to Ealing Common by rail Tuesday, and then two cars out by road Tuesday, two Wednesday and the last two should have been today.

Is it now the plan to despatch C Stock from Ealing Common rather than Northwood or was this a one off?

I did see on Twitter pictures of the units parked behind the Museum depot next to the 38ts; lets hope they took the right train away!

That was always the original plan but the rebuilding of Ealing Common meant that they continued with Northwood. However, I believe this was a 'trial' for the future. So, at the moment, we will have to wait and see.

two cars of C stock heading south on the M25 at Runnymede this evening - how long would these have spent at Northwood?

Nothing at Northwood when I got there this afternoon, they must be getting very slick with this whole removal business.

Does anyone know the units involved. I saw 5544 5583 5526 outside Neasden on Fri pm. Was at Hammersmith earlier and photographed 5606 leaving the depot around 13h00. If I recall 5501 was at the other end of the formation which shunted to the road alongside the station. There was an S Stock train in the way and I was in a rush to head to the Uxbridge branch to photograph the A Stock RAT, so only glanced quickly. There was a happy mix of C and S Stock on both H & C and Circle Line duties. From what I have read elsewhere they now look like being thin on the ground on the H & C.

Yes thats what I read with 9 C Stock on the Circle Line M-F and Sun increased to 11 on Sats. If the 8 Wimbleware C Stock trains are taken into account we have just passed the 50% C replacement stage.

Sounds like there will be a big step up in S stock use from next week then.
