Where will the behind-barrier link between the subsurface platforms and the deep level platforms be located? Finally, what's going on behind the hoardings next to the Vic Line escalators? I believe it's going to be at the West End of the Met and Circle Platforms. But what about the other end? I'd like to know what is going on behind the hoardings, I had to get a cable going right through there diverted and I was under the impression that it was the only thing holding up the works. Interesting. BTW, has the fate of the pre-1941 Pentonville Road ticket office and passageway link to the deep-level platforms been 'nailed down' yet?

In relation to these train departure boards, do away with all the fancy gizmos etc. to prevent runners.
Simply have the software "wipe down" the train's existence a given time before predicted departure. For example, if it takes 45 seconds to reach the platform, and the system sees the train approximately 1 minute away, wipe it down 15 seconds later.
Of course there will be occasions where the train may still be there, but it will be only the lucky who just happen to catch it - by walking carefully down to the platform.

I expect the behind-barrier link between deep and sub to be behind these boardings. Take a look at this station map. The boardings are blocking the tunnel that crosses the sub platforms and I believe I read that some of those frequent weekend closures on circle/met/h&c were used to enhance/widen the entrance above the sub platform. Yes, I believe there was an article in 'Modern Railways' on the CTRL that mentioned something about this passage. The actual wait is for the station to be finished. Alwaystouchout has some info on this as well

If you turn left from the gateline,go to the end,up the stairs and turn right you'll see three boarded up entrances with TfL artwork on them. These will be the entrances into the CTRL station when it's finished. If you look closely at one of the signs at the top of the stairs, you can just make out "Eurostar" under the masking tape.

you can just make out "Eurostar" under the masking tape. Whereas, the "Way Out" signs recently installed on the platforms (at both "exits" incidentally, not just one) they are already directing people to "Eurostar."

Re the lighting on the H & C platforms, they've now started installing the back lit station name panels along the platform walls, improves the lighting no end.

Are they also going to clean the platforms themselves? They're already a splattered, dirty mess...

Re the lighting on the H & C platforms, they've now started installing the back lit station name panels along the platform walls, improves the lighting no end. The first day I saw those, on the Westbound platform, the signs (obviously incomplete) simply said "Kings Cross." I then wondered if they were going to dispense with the other half of the name to save money. Until that is, I arrived back later on the eastbound, to a station branded only as "St Pancras"

Have they deleted the apostraphe in "King's Cross"? Will we eventually see plain:
BARONS COURT EARLS COURT KINGS CROSS
on signs?
Down here, Chandler's Ford adjacent to Eastleigh, but with a station again on the Romsey-Eastleigh line since '03, is quoted as variously that, plus "Chandlers Ford" and "Chandlersford". The station on thr "Chandlers Ford Online" site shows clearly signage with "Chandler's Ford".

I hear the passageway between the tube and SSL will re-open on Sunday the 8th,I assume it's the one that closed when the Western Ticket Hall opened.

Let's hope they've made a better job on the roof. I noticed on the way home yesterday that the mops were out after a brief shower of rain. And it wasn't "walked through" wetness, but various areas of dampness which had obviously filtered through from the road above.

And the "altered" walking routes also consist of exiting via "the other" exit on the SSL platforms (the one I had been "sneaking" out of anyway - along with a few hundred others ;D )
To match up with this, they've reversed the ticket gates with the "way out" ones being on the opposite side to where they were. So now everyone leaving that area has to cross the path of everyone trying to get in. Wonderful planning.

BUMP. Having used KXStP a few times now, with the original exit from the SSL platforms now open and used for behind-barrier interchange, I'm quite impressed with how well station traffic flows now - it's far improved from the original setup. Kudos to the folks who designed the current arrangements

Having been through there a few times it seems (although I might be imagining things) that it's significantly quicker to get to the SSL platforms by ignoring the signs and using the interchange passage. This means having to cross the flow of people emerging from the escalators though.

Seeing this thread is not *that* old...
When on earth is Metronut fixing the SSL platdorm so that C-stocks could stop short again WB? I was on one at around 5pm today, rear car as per normal as the exit's there. I decided to be the last one to leave through the doors to avoid the initial scrum. However, I was still directly behind the person in front so no delays caused.
It was a very full train and it was as if the train was getting tipped out with the number of people getting off this evening! The dwell time was very long and the t/o hit the door close before I reached the doors, requiring me to push them back open to get off! Needless to say, exactly 0 people from the usual crowd at the back made it on board the now rather-empty circle line train.

I suspect it was busier than usual because of the Earls court one two under on the Picc and the resulting Picc suspension. The driver should have really been more 'on the ball' and realised this CLICK HERE for more on the Picc incident.
