Great news then, will be rather unique on the system after it closes! I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thought of boarding Sarah Siddons and 353 at Cassiobridge's radioactive shipping container station just sets my teeth on edge!

Presumably so!
If the Bakerloo does ever take up the mantle of 'stratigic north-west south-east link' (as some planning documents bestow it), one would have thought Croxley Green would be a better site for sidings, or even Croxley Tip. All those trains for the Hayes line have to go somewhere...

I dunno if this is interesting or not, but the ground crews found a WW2 bomb up there the other week.

According to the Investment Programme Report Q4 2013/14 taken at today’s meeting of TfL’s Finance and Policy Committee, things are not well with the Croxley Rail Link. “During this quarter, the schedule has continued to slip and the forecast costs have increased. HCC and LU are in discussions with the DfT about how the funding gap might be bridged. The cost estimates associated with LU’s core scope have remained stable.” www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/fpc-20140605-part-1-item05-ofr-ipr.pdf p15 (p69 of the pdf) Is an Evergreen 3-style solution, where Chiltern ceded programme control to Network Rail, appropriate here? Maybe it’s too late for that given that HCC has already appointed Vinci as its lead contractor. The intended opening date has already slipped from December 2016 to sometime in 2017. THC

Probably too early to ask but when Watford Junction becomes Met, will it remain in Zone W or move to 8 or 9?

Probably too early to ask but when Watford Junction becomes Met, will it remain in Zone W or move to 8 or 9? As far as I'm aware, it will remain as a special fare stage. At least that's what they were still telling local councillors towards the end of last year.

It's no wonder this project over budget and delayed with endless enquiries and decades on indecision all for @ 2.5 miles of railway - How pathetic the UK is!

And its not a new 2.5miles of railway, just following most of the existing route.... Will be interesting to see how TfL will spin the media, since they won't want the project to be "delayed"

Like I said in an earlier thread, they were talking about it when I worked at Ricky in 1973, o only 40-odd years to plan and build 2 miles of railway. the French and Germans have built entire high speed networks in far less time. Was it Sir John Betjeman who said "come oh friendly bombs and drop on Watford"?

The actual phrase, written in 1937 was: " Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough! It isn't fit for humans now, There isn't grass to graze a cow. Swarm over, Death!" could we now return to Croxley?

The real new bit is just a few hundred yards of viaduct across an open approach to a town (well, two towns actually, one in each direction!). Another controversial aspect involves the closure of a station in the middle of an area of housing.

Was the Croxley Green branch line always single or did it at one point be double?

Looks like final final final final final scheme approval is being sought from DfT and will hopefully be granted around about the time that Santa appears (yes, yes, I know). This from the MD’s report to next week’s TfL Rail and Underground Panel (para 4.10, p3): “Hertfordshire County Council is currently finalising their [sic] bid to the Department for Transport (DfT) for funding for the Croxley Rail Link scheme. A decision on this by the DfT is expected by the end of December 2014.” Pending approval, according to Cllr Terry Douris of HCC, the contractors are due on site in early 2015 to start work proper. Is this the longest time project for a @1.5 mile line? I am thinking on placing a bet that the S Stock will be withdrawn by the time this link is completed ? Bad odds on me being alive to collect my winnings though!
