1996 stock did visit ChX, so the announcement is still there, I think. Saw it somewhere on YouTube. Speaking of which, the 1973TS is able to do District announcements (using the Piccadilly voice) and is thus able to run properly on the District, in theory. (except for the fact that after the 73TS got refurbished, it emits electromagnetic interference which can disrupt signals (I think), but all signals west of South Kensington were immunized).

It did, and still does!
Whether or not the announcement is still there I can't answer.

This is happening at the moment though due to the S7 starting to run test trains on the District but they cannot go past Gloucester Road going west yet.

But how is it possible then that the Picc can go closely to District signals, without interfering with them?

perhaps they dont give off any interfernce im no train expert and if they did give off this what frequency what does it omit at? then you might find out the answer most of the District signalling is fed at 125hz with only a few places at 33 1/3hz and deltra tracks running at 10khz (but these are being replaced with position detectors as these are not compatible with S stock)

How can you set up a District destination on a 73TS. As far as I know this isn't possible! All it can do is Ealing Bdy, West Ken and High st Ken as well as the slow stations between Hammersmith and Acton Town. So it definitely can't run on the District properly.

All District stations between Ealing Broadway & South Ken & HSK? Good enough, if the D78 has a major design flaw needing fixing immediately calling for temporary withdrawal, then the 73TS can replace the D78 on the western District, where people can change at South Ken for the Circle line if they want to go towards Barking - they just use the H&C line. (or they change at Hammersmith)
