No, shouldn't be. Back next season I would expect. Don't forget there is another RAT at Acton being so converted.

How long does the season last for? Until the start of the new timetable, last day should be Saturday 10th December 2011 when TTN 163/11 is operating (No service Baker St to City) so the last trip should be: 0400 Watford to Chesham 0451 Chesham to Watford 0518 Watford to Rickmansworth 0532 Rickmansworth to Neasden Dpt 0603 1432 Neasden Depot to Amersham 1519 Amersham to Watford 1550 Watford to Amersham 1627 Amersham to Watford 1700 Watford to Harrow on the Hill 1722 Harrow to Uxbridge 1746 Uxbridge to Neasden Depot 1822 (Finish for 2011) However... It has been a very unseasonally dry, late, warm autumn, and as these things go, never rule out our "Leaf-fall season" being extended.

I was thinking that. Lots of trees don't seem to have fully shead, so I may be worth keeping it out till January. This late autumn is becoming a bit of a trend.....

I wouldn't say that was set in stone yet. Remember, 5110 and 5234 are the RAT.
I'd like to see unit 5036 reformed into the original livery as best possible. As 5036-6037-5037 are actually forming unit 5116, I'd like to see them united with a de-mobbed 6036 when it finishes duties to form an original unit.

Im sure a while back when 5110 was withdrawn from the Met fleet, someone here posted that they will be both: Heritage train and RAT, and when needed for a heritage duty they just remove 6036 and 6132 from both formations

Does anyone know how long will the RAT be operated by an A stock?

I'd give it a couple of years before they use a D Stock. Though potentially it could be 30 or more..

Bronzeonion is right as far as I heard. The train could be split up when the D's take over. Although I can't see them splitting it up every time they want a rail tour of the A Stock or the RAT around. Unless the RAT car has auto-couplers either end, that I might not be aware of!

However, I do not know if this is final or the contrary is true (just checked all mentions of 5000 in the category back to Nov 7 2011).

5000 won't be preserved although the DM 5000 may be.
I'm hoping both 5110 and 5234 are preserved in working order when the RAT is disbanded.

Does being a RAT count as being in the engineering fleet?

First post on here, so bear with me.
u5110-u5234 are the long term RATs. They'll be maintained under similar arrangements to the Central Line vehicles, although the maintenance regime has been written so that they remain capable of passenger service for occasional heritage use.

Does that mean that, the interiors will be kept in good condition (unlike the Central RAT), interior lighting will be maintained, and will be kept in the current livery?

Does that mean they have kept the seats in place? I assumed they have been replaced by tanks filled with water and sand.

I always thought the RAT only had the 5th car with Sandite stuff in it and the other 4 were 'as normal'?

That was my understanding. Initially, the RAT trailer 6036 slotted in next to one of the motor cars of a normal 4 car unit. When the season was over, 6036 was removed and the train put back into passenger service. Laterly to maintain line speeds, 6036 replaced one of the A60 trailers which was stored. It now seems like the old 5 car train is back albeit with 6036 sandwiching each trailer. My guess would therefore be that the existing cars are untouched. I hope they are maintained in pax order however.

Yes, the non-RAT cars will be maintained in as good a condition as possible, with seats left in place. The idea is to be able to provide a heritage set at reasonable cost, which shouldn't be too difficult given that the two units have to be maintained mechanically for RAT use anyway.
