I've noticed that some of the signals on the Piccadilly Line at Finsbury park are numbered as Victoria line signals. I.e. VK8 and VK9 on the southbound either end of Platform 3 and VK1 and VK2 on the Northbound prior to the connector. Are these signals fully controlled by the Victoria Line or is the numbering just because it's Finsbury Park? It makes sense that they may be slotted by Victoria for the connection but not that they are controlled. How does the connector work in terms of signalling and control? Have found districtdave.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Signals&action=display&thread=1429 but it does not tell the full story. Thanks

VK 1/2/8/9 are on the V frame in VK IMR, it makes sense that they are controlled but not slotted; due to the differences in how the Picc signalling functions compared to the Vic. There is a bit of non-Vic Line control on VK 8 for the balanced headway working on the Picc. I presume you've seen Harsig's diagrams here? VK1/2 will detect one (VK 1) or both ends (VK 2) of 3 points and likewise with VK 8/9 and both ends of 10 points. There is no Picc IMR and the VK plated signals function automaticaly until the crossovers are needed to be used.

Thanks, I'd not seen Harsig's site before.
I'm not familiar with the term IMR- but I assume it essentially the interlocking relay room.
So in normal running these signals are essentially automatic on the Piccadilly and only really become controlled when required for a crossover?
If I read you correctly VK8/9 are interlocked with 10 points but does that mean you can reverse 10 points and turn VK8/9 red by default or do VK8/9 need to be restored before you can reverse 10 points?
In the NB then presumably VK1/2 are restored 3 points reversed and then VK1/2 cleared.
After use the signals reverting to auto working.

No, the levers work all the time in the Interlocking Machine Room each signal and crossover has its own lever.

OK I see: the lever pulling is automatic as opposed to a signaller setting and pulling the levers though and is controlled by the VIC line system with the exception of the headway bit?
But to send a train across the connector presumably requires some manual intervention by the signaller at the VIC control room.

Yes, a 'V' frame is air-operated. The seventh picture Clicky shows the air motors behind a large 'V' frame. Movements between the lines are manually controlled.
