www.flickr.com/photos/24772733@N05/5372694017/in/photostream/The above is a great photo of the Whitechapel frame, taken in January 2011 just prior to the commissioning of the auto working switches. Are there any recent photos showing the new cabin diagram and the remaining in-use levers? SE13 edit to make the link work.

The best I can come up with is this, which shows the diagram and frame in the minutes immediately after the Auto Working switches were commissioned. That was Stage 2 of the Whitechapel works, at the moment Stage 5 has just been commissioned and stage 6 is being installed. We're due to start designing stage 7 imminently!

Gosh, it must be 15 years or more since I last saw the inside of Whitechapel cabin, it looks much less dingey than I recall but then I only ever saw it at night!

Some rather permanently fixed 'lever collars' there! Someone clearly doesn't want them tampered with.

I suspect (note suspect) that this is probably the easier way of doing the alterations due to either the design of the pivots and/or potential wiring degradation.

I especially like the fact that the original diagram was able to be retained, albeit with some fascinating "adaptations" compared to the existing layout on the ground. Which of the point levers still work? Also, have the points themselves been fully renewed or have they been retained where appropriate?

Also, have the points themselves been fully renewed or have they been retained where appropriate? None of the points have been retained as these were bull-head rail ones, the new ones are all flat-bottomed.

The wire is completely unnecessary, it was put in at the request of the ops rep, after we did something similar at Edgware Road. At Edgware Road however, the design of the lever made it a necessity.

Why is that? Are the points OOU and secured normal until the works are completed? I certainly hope there are no points in use!! ;D ;D The point ends on the eastbound track are in place at both ends of the station (scotched & clipped for through running). The westbound track, and indeed platform, are not yet complete so there are no complete points let alone working levers!! Whitechapel currently looks like this: - P1 - in use as eastbound road
- P2 - track lifted
- P3 - in use as westbound
- P4 - undergoing conversion to become westbound road, no track connected

I had a look yesterday evening, and it appears that the siding is being relaid also. This was only accessible westbound as trains left the tunnel from Stepney Green.

The siding is no more!!
What was the siding, next to platform 4, is becoming the new westbound through road - the track is not yet connected and the old platform is being extended out to meet it.
Platforms 2 & 3 will be filled in.

Tom am I still right in thinking that a double crossover is going to be installed eventually?

Tom am I still right in thinking that a double crossover is going to be installed eventually? The diagram I have shows a crossover each end of the station.

Thats correct. A trailing crossover either side of the station.
