Definitely on the 92ts, and i also think on the 95/96ts, since the cab doors are sliding ... how does one actually open them from the outside??

On C and D stocks, you need a key to open the cab doors from the outside.

Yes, and the C stocks can be awkward - you have to use your key to take the air off the door and then push it open. Sometimes they can be a bit reluctant!

Especially when some wally puts 5 suitcases up against the J door (he was foreign - so I didn't want to attempt communicating unless it was really necessary). There's me at Edgware Road struggling to get the cab side door open - with a load of punters pointing and laughing at how a train op couldn't get into his own cab ;D In the end the suitcases were moved

I once saw a District op lock his J door key in the cab. He couldn't open the cab door so he had to borrow the J door key belonging to the H&C driver who had just pulled up in the adjacent platform to get back in and salvage his! ;D

Trouble is, I managed to drop the key down between the train and the track while struggling to open the door. Solidbond, I have training week ending 10th Dec.

I once saw a District op lock his J door key in the cab. He couldn't open the cab door so he had to borrow the J door key belonging to the H&C driver who had just pulled up in the adjacent platform to get back in and salvage his! ;D The only time you can do that is if the control key is still in the ON position, which makes the outside cab door open buttons not work for safety reasons.

I once managed to drop my J key between train and platform at Epping! The litter picker's 'pickers' came in handy to retreive said key. Also, when I cabbed a 95 on time, I managed to squash two teenagers 'at it'. The looks they gave me as I left! I like the idea of providing an emergency J key and RKL in the Emergency Equipment cabinet. Yeah, this really works. It requires a J key to open it. I'f youre on the last train, and happen to lose your only J key, how the heck are you supposed to get at the 'spare'?

The business of the POD needing a J door key to open, always amuses me, as how the heck are you suppose to get one out ?! You're not the only person who's dropped their key in an awkward place . Anyway, don't the cabinets on the 92s have a plate of glass covering a handle to allow access without a J door key? The 73s do... No they have some plastic contraption that pulls out and reviels the handle that the J door lock operates, High security at its best!

Yeah, the J doors on 92's do have a plastic cover, which simply pulls away to access a small stubby handle, which you push up to release the lock. Yep MA, high security indeed. I could have just opened the side cab door an carried on, but my concern was for security. If some 'outsider' got hold of a J key, all hell would have broken loose. Lots of finger pointing I guess would have a occured.
