I've asked this question before but.... is this sandite train 59ts or 62ts??? I've known these always as 59's There are currently TWO Sandtite, or Rail Adhesion trains on the Central Line. Both are currently located at Ruislip, although during the 'season' one is normally operated from Hainault. The hainault based unit comprises 8 cars, the Ruislip one 9which dragged the 92ts to Ealing Common) consists of 5 cars. ALL are 62ts.

The 8 car train was formed first and mirrored the original 8 car (M-T-NDM-M+M-T-NDM-M) sets. The 5 car was formed from odd cars and was all that was left!

I passed a 4 car 92ts, which looked like it had just completed a brake test then the 62ts looked like it was going to 'collect' the 92 and drag it back.
Also a possesion was put in from the flyunder thing near Acton to halfway between South Ealing and Northfields station

I'm sure there were enough cars left to form another 8-car, there was withdrawn 62TS in Ruislip and still is I believe, but was there a need for that? I'm only surprised the 'east end' train hasn't been reduced to 5-car formation too.

I like how the 62ts has 1992 spray painted on the coupling, I wonder how many others there are out there for it?

According to the crew, the two sets of 92ts WERE fitted with tripcocks for the journey between Ruislip sidings and Ealing Common Depot.
Brake testing will continue tomorrow and for most of the rest of the week, with the 92ts secured overnight at South Ealing Station outer rail eastbound, and the 62ts RAT returning to Ealing Common Depot.
It should be noted that the two, four car sets are both lead by an EASTBOUND facing 92ts DM!
Apparently, the plan 'seemed like a good idea at the time!'

In fact the testing finished today and the train was moved back to Ealing Common depot in two 4-car halves using the 62TS unit. The trains were supposed to enter the depot from the west end via Ealing Broadway, but a possession in the yard (I think) meant the first train (at least) went back to Acton Town, thence reversed off platform 4 and up the bank to go in via the east end. (Pix, of course, :-) to follow.)

Further to an earlier post in this thread, 1992 Tube Stock made at least four trips to and from Ongar, all empty of course.
These were:
13.07.93 - Units 033-030-032-035 28.07.93 - Units 005-007 05.10.93 - Units 017-014-016-019 02.11.93 - Units 107-104-106-109

I wonder why the train ran back to Northfields and thence via EB Fast rather than continue along the EB Local into Acton Town....or did it?

I wonder why the train ran back to Northfields and thence via EB Fast rather than continue along the EB Local into Acton Town....or did it? Because there was another 4 cars of 92TS sitting there in the way! I believe the second move, which I didn't wait for, went in that directon.

Thanks! I wondered if there was a problem with infrastructure. That move off the EB Local WB is a very rare move surely? That said I can't recall seeing a WB reversal from the EB Fast either! Is there still a staff train that runs along the Local when the test track is not being used? Thank you for those excellent shots.

No idea which this was but (E) 91111,92111,93070,92070,1570,9691,9441,1441 (W) entered platform 7 at Ealing Broadway at 1220 yesterday 10th May.
Trains don't normally make that much noise dumping air when they arrive so I went to investigate. I think it was still there when I moved on at 1229.

....with the 92ts secured overnight at South Ealing Station outer rail eastbound, ..... Now that is bound to confuse somebody, there being no 'outer rail' on the Picc. Of course we all know that you mean eastbound local although it is seldom used as such.
