hi.
what are those clicking noises I sometimes hear, that emanate from the cab. they are more apparent just as the train starts moving.

hi. what are those clicking noises I sometimes hear, that emanate from the cab. they are more apparent just as the train starts moving. To put it simply, these clicking noises, are to do with the ATP/ATO system that is in operation on the Central. After the driver closes the doors and gets the 'pilot light' [doors closed visual], he/she presses the ATO Start buttons, the trains computer does a quick check on the trains state, the safety interlocks are released and this is the clicks you can hear from the cab. I'm struggling to explain this in a non-technical way, but have probably failed miserably... Any of you who can elaborate further can do so. Met Apprentice might be able to explain further...

Nah...that's all claptrap. The clicking noise you hear is the driver tutting as he wonders what the effing hell can go wrong next??
