Just a quick quiery. Heres a picture of a D78 stock cab which I found on Dave's site. No problem there. But what does that circular thing on the floor do? Thanks!

Ah! That's the ejector seat mechanism!
Nah, seriously, it's the 'BOD' or Button Over-ride Device. This allows the driver to continue to the next station with a passenger alarm activated. The driver holds down the button with his foot and this by-passes the relevant part of the circuit which applies the brakes.
If the BOD fails, then you have to start cutting out the round-train circuit etc to get the train moving again.
I'm sure one of my instructor colleagues will be able to give you more detailed information if required!

I have a PDF that contains the safety brake circuit for the D stock, not sure if i can / should publish it as a gif?? If the BOD fails, then you have to start cutting out the round-train circuit etc to get the train moving again. Not forgetting the selection of slow speed, otherwise you will have no fwd movement!
