Hi does anybody know what the Jubilee line ATO system is like compared to the Central and Victoria lines. Also i have wondered why is there no signals now the central and Victoria lines have signals why does the Jubilee line not have signals? Also has anybody seen any trains run round in Protected Manual mode i know most of them are now ATO but apparently there is about 10 not converted to ATO does anybody know anything about this? Thanks  |

The Central only has signals at junctions and station starters. Not sure about the Vic.
The Jubilee doesn't have signals as it is a moving-block system, meaning that it's distance to the train in front, not possession of a track circuit. That way the overlap can be constantly changed and means trains can come VERY close to each other in total safety.

The Central also has colour light signals between stations, and Block Marker Boards which are also classed as signals.

At what point are there coloured light signals between stations other than junctions? I thought it was just block markers only. I would imagine that for the purpose of this question 'signals' refers to colour light.

I would imagine that for the purpose of this question 'signals' refers to colour light. I think 'signal' would mean 'track-side equipment with the ability to show a proceed aspect', as shunt signals are still signals, but not colour light sticks. |

Mile End to Stratford both roads, Northolt to South Ruislip both roads, East Acton to White City both roads just to name a few.

BMBs divide a signal section into smaller segments so where you have long stretches of track between stations consisting of more than one signal section you find coloured light Auto signals at the start of each section rather than a BMB. You still get semi-autos protecting points.
