Today is our Forum's 6th anniversary in the current Proboards format - in fact the Forum is actually well over 7 years old if you also count it's predecessor, the Bravenet version. So congratulations & thanks to all our members for being a part of our community, and we look forward to the next 6 years of continued success. The Forum's Administrators have planned a number of changes which we would have liked to implement in association with today's anniversary; for one reason or another we are not in a position to implement those plans just yet, but we would like to share some of them with you as a little teaser. This is the culmination of almost a year of behind the scenes work and we are certainly hoping to have it all implemented by the summer..... Highlights are: - Redesign and relaunch of Dave's "main website"
- Redesign and relaunch of this forum
- Choice of 4 skins on the forum
- Rules revision (Mainly our response to serious incidents on LU)
- Creation of an archive of useful threads
There are many elements within those highlights, plus a few more things we're keeping tight lipped on for now; we hope you'll be looking forward to them all with eager anticipation. We will be asking for your feedback on the choice of skins prior to implementation as we'll need to decide which will become the default for guests and members when signed out - this will be your chance to get a sneak preview of how the forum will change. More details nearer to implementation, whenever that may be.....

A *VERY* Happy Birthday to the forum *raises glass* Thanks to everyone whose time, effort and quite possibly money, has made this place, such a great place to come. We've all made it, one of the best, if not THE best sites about on the Underground. or the Tube. Hearty thanks to all, for making this place, what it is. Keep it up.

Brilliant news! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and met old friends/colleagues that would have been impossible otherwise.

Well done to everyone involved in the forum, even the Admins. ;D
I cant believe I have been a member for almost 5 years, although I was browsing a while before I joined.
I dont visit/post as much as I used to, but its still essential reading every now and again.

I'll raise a glass in the Bree Louise tonight, I wasn't planning on being in London this weekend, but a sudden opportunity has popped up and I'm now at full tilt on the WCML heading for the capital and the mighty UndergrounD!

Just pushing toward my forum 6th birthday as well, having followed from the very beginning. Those early days when it was the same few, then more joining in, people working out who others were, and suddenly the place exploded into life. Testament to all concerned that even when I joined (think I was member 32) that we never dreamed of being as big as the place now is, and certainly not the level of significant people from management down to enthusiast, and media attention that we now have. I also remember creating a thread after about six months congratulating how growth had gone, and all sorts of new words were invented including something like "fifthted" with a question as to whether a new word had been created by one of our staff team! Then there was the day that I logged in, and someone had broken the place.... (You know who you are!) So from someone who posted daft questions at the very start to help thing tick over, to the people who answered for the same reason, and for all those who contributed ever since asking what they think as daft questions, to those asking more serious questions, we are all guilty of keeping the success going. Hats off to all here, and here's to an enormous 10th birthday party soon.... Though perhaps we ought to start arranging that nearer the time to allow Dave to save up for the free bar.

This Forum has been a great source of information and entertainment since 2006 for me!
Oh, to think I've been with DD's for about 5 years (well, certain absences excluded)!

When I first stumbled across this forum two and a half years ago my knowledge of LT was minimal at best. I have found the feedback here to be astounding and my minimal knowledge is now minimal knowledge with real quality! Only kidding. I have learnt so much about the history of LT and its rolling stock by being here and I am truly grateful for all of the information and feedback that has been given by so many of you. I dread to think how inaccurate my model fleet would look without DD! I have also met some fantastic people and look forward to meeting more at the Acton meet. I must also thank the individuals who began this forum and those who administer it. It is reassuring to know that, when someone steps out of line, it is dealt with swiftly. Thank you all and I think we should all raise a glass at Acton in March!

And what rolling stock should it represent... now there's a super king-sized can of worms I've opened so please don't respond with suggestions However trains can be made into cakes.... look at my WEDDING CAKE for a couple of years back... That'll teach my wife to let me organise things ;D ;D ;D

My Wifes reaction to a cake like that would have resulted in an annulment, a visit to A&E and me singing soprano for the rest of my life, and not necessarily in that order! ;D

My wife, friends and family know me and my sense of humour... I'm a lucky lucky boy in many many ways.... and know it and respect that! However this was everyone's reaction upon seeing the cake...

I cannot believe I have stayed loyal to something with the word "District" in it for so long. Oh and the whole place is green. My Met forefathers would be spinning in their graves ;D ;D Well done to the forum staff and of course all of us for making this the respected place it is ;D ;D

I reckon the cake should be D or R stock to reflect 'District' in District Dave, or just an A stock because their great!

I would recommend a 1938 stock train, as it comes out of Acton for special occasions. ;D

How about a cake representing every stock to have run during the time this forum has been operational. I reckon that would be: A, C, D and S surface stocks and 1938, 1967, 1972, 1973, 1992, 1995, 1996 and 2009 tube stocks. We could also add Class 150, 172, 313 and 378 for the Overground and B90/B92/B2K and B07 on the DLR. This gives 12 (or 13 if you count original and refurbed Ds separately) LU stocks, 4 LO stocks and 2 for the DLR (the B90/92/2K are identical for this scale). 18-19 trains would make a big cake - but I reckon Metman would be up to the challenge!

This gives 12 (or 13 if you count original and refurbed Ds separately) If you count refurbed D78s as seperate stock then you have to count the rest! That means two seperate representations for 1967, 1972, 1973, A60, A62, C69, C77 and D78! Too many to bear thinking about!
