Hold on! "This is Barking", "The next station is East Ham", "This is a Circle Line Train". Is there something that they are not telling us? Circle line trains can enter service from a variety of stabling points, including Barking sidings. The S stock CIS caters for this. The train can be described as Circle line as it comes in towards London and takes up its Circle line path.

Is there an easy way to distinguish the S7 and S8 stocks when seen from the front - other than the middle digit of the number?

Also, the destination might be a give away too. They've thought of everything haven't they? Its like waiting for an Epping or Hainault bound train at Leytonstone. All the trains look the same from the front apart from the bit that shows the destination which is also reinforced by announcements and the describer on the platform. Enough for me.......

Of course, if you happen to be waiting at the far end of platform 3, you have to guess at what the DMI on the front says. Fat letters for Epping, or Debden or Loughton, long words for Hainault, Newbury Park or Woodford.

Only units 21003 - 21025 have that part red (apart from the pre-production trains). Unit 21003 also doesn't have a white gap in the blue stripe next to the cab doors.

The Admin team would like to thank all who have posted in threads relating to S Stock deliveries... Sadly the news that S Stock deliveries are being targeted by vandals means that the Admins need to review what information is posted on the open forum. Sadly we therefore must instruct members not to post news of expected deliveries before the event. PLEASE READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTAs per the announcement, PM ChrisW of forthcoming delivery news. He will update the delivery list as soon as possible AFTER the event.

The red bit was only on S8s 21003-21021 & 21099, meanwhile 21001 had full red trim around the 'T' shaped buffer.
