The way S stock doors work, is that they are all opened by the driver, and then after 45s of being open they automatically close, but do not lock, and the orange ring around the button becomes lit. If this is pressed, they open, of course with door chimes, and again stay open for 45s until the doors re-close. Nothing like DLR/NR.

On NR, Electrostars seem to have individually auto-closing doors - certainly 376s and 378s do.

I don't actually recall a 376 closing it's own doors, but they are a rarity on the Bexleyheath Line. If they do, it's certainly an exception to the rule though.

almost all NR Power door trains close the doors by themselves after 45-60 seconds, door controls then activate for passengers to get back out

As an aside, the newest arrival to London entered passenger service yesterday, and ran during the evening peak with no issues whatsoever. Which unit is that? 21017 was seen in service on the 7th, and when it was delivered about a week earlier prjb posted "We won't have another for a little while now as we have enough in London and want to allow testing outside of London to continue unhindered". However, a thread on RailUK Forums suggests that one was delivered on the 9th.

Looked superb that morning but someone 'modified' the interior of one car later that day.

I have to hold my hands up and say I didn't note which unit it was. We were told it was the train's first day in service, and I have also seen the reports of another train arriving.
However, I don't think another train has arrived this week, which would mean that the train used yesterday was probably 21017/21018 and so was not as new as I was lead to believe.
Still. Nice and shiny all the same, and it still ran without a hitch ;D

I know the 92ts is pretty bad for that, but they could at least make some effort to remove said damage. Doesn't quite seem Met-like either.. I must say I don't really see vandalised A stock.

You're lucky! Whilst I only occasionally see graffiti on the outside, the poor windows can get a right hammering. All so some spotty herbert can see his 'tag'!

Maybe someone got confused with 21007 re-entering service.

Where was this going - See 11th Feb picture > Clicky HereThat is one of the pictures / reports I saw. Trouble is, wherever it was going it hasn't (as far as I'm aware) ended up on our metals. So where has it gone? Maybe it's been train-napped I bet that metman bloke (amongst others) is involved ;D ;D.

Beaten to it - sure I've read on here somewhere that there are no direct deliveries from Derby - all go to Old Dalby first for testing and then are delivered Old Dalby - Neasden.

It was 21019+21020 Derby to Old Dalby. The caption to the photo says it was taken on 10th Feb. The train is on the up road, about a mile and a half south of Leicester. If he was going to Old Dalby, he's taken the wrong stick at Syston ;D ;D. If he's going to London from Old Dalby, he must have gone back to Syston to get on to the MML. This is the long way round. Perhaps they aren't allowed to go via Corby. Anyone know?

What pre-recorded message does the S-Stock come with? I heard "This train is currently stuck at a red signal. It will be moving shortly" (or something like that) today, but was wondering what other ones there are.
Also, is it the driver's choice on whether to use the pre-recorded message or the PA system or should the pre-recorded messages always be used where possible?

Is there a I'm sorry but the doors on this car will not open, please move to the car to exit this train. ;D I jest.
I personally prefer to hear the driver speak, it is more personal.

The problem with the driver speaking is that, well, they don't... at least not on the A Stock. I did here one complate about the automatic announcements, and that was that it makes it harder to sleep on the trains

While we're on the subject of automated announcements, the first DVA announcement I've heard in 6 years on Chiltern's trains happened last weekend. Maybe they're bringing them back again?
