Derailment in the north end of the depot. Been there for a while now. ERU on site.

And still there as we went past at about 17:45...With the train now split in two and partially jacked up over the point work.
So... What happened?

Car 96007 was derailed on a set of points at the north end of Neasden Depot, the ERU cut off this car from the other six cars.

I'm glad I saw this.....thought my eyes were playing tricks when I passed there on a Chiltern train at roughly 10:35. Saw one car detached from the others..........at least the thread explains all, which is one accolade on how informative the forum is

Just noticed the 96 stock fleet number.....007? Must be Mr. Bond trying to do something amazing using a tube train...........

The train is still parked up, in neasden's north dock. Are all the 7 cars on the north dock ? Yes. But 007 has been cut free form the others..

I'm surprised . Normally depot derailments have enough space and access not to need such drastic action. Undoing the coupler and jumpers then pulling/ pushing apart may be.

To continue with the bad bond jokes: Someone must have had a Golden Eye spot this! The first thought of the driver was what the living daylights was that! The first report from the investigation team stated that the driver wasn't qualified to drive he only had a Licence to Kill! I'm sure there are more out there!

I would think it's pretty hard for driver error to put a train to the deck other than gunning it through a tight curve...

There was a picture on here a couple of years ago of a derailed, SPADded Met train, I think at Rickmansworth. It wasn't far off going sideways, or over a viaduct or something, if I remember correctly. Can't find the thread now though

Not entirely driver error, and definitely not related to this incident, but I recall also an RAIB report into a derailment, I think in the north west somewhere, where the preceding train had reported a significant bump in the track. The following train was told to proceed at caution and examine the track, but actually travelled at near line speed. The track had severely buckled (I think due to heat) and a derailment occurred.

Not sure you could do that on a semi-permanent coupler though could you? Jubilee Stock is made up of a four car unit and a three car unit, so this would only work in the middle where the auto couplers are.
