Why could they not just have a moving block signaling system with Manual driving on the Jubilee? There are two main reasons. Firstly manual driving will result in some variation in performance between individual drivers so that the system can't be optimised though near-identical train performance. Secondly there is a safety risk that when leaving a station the driver will be concentrating on the TOD and not CCTV or vice versa, leading to them either missing something going on on the platform or missing a command to reduce speed.

most trains now run in ATO yes, but i dont think they all are i went on one in Febuary and i am sure it was in PM mode. The've been all in ATO since mid Jan. Why do you think the one you travelled on was in PM? Its not impossible for them to be in PM, but highly unusual - perhaps en-route to Stratford to stop at the staff halt, or due to some other reason like staff on the track north of Finchley, where they would have been put into PM mode, or perhaps a individual train issue?

Yes you are right trains have been in ATO since January but i spoke to one of the drivers and they said 10 trains are still not converted to ATO yet, and are operating in PM untill they get converted. I was going between Bond street and West hamstead and it was in PM you could tell because the acceration was quite gradual not like the way ATO would drive it!

I thought all trains had been converted some time ago. There were only a few days after Christmas where we were using modified and unmodified trains. If there are any still do be done, then they are certainly not being used in public service. As sw206 said, it's not impossible that you were on a train being driven in PM, but this is not something we are allowed to switch to whenever we feel like it. As for acceleration capability, I don't think there's that much difference between manual and automatic driving, except that of course a driver may choose to accelerate less quickly.

yes you are right there is no real differnce in acceration in ATO but will the power on the 96 stock get upped once the new timetable comes? They dont seem to pull away as rapidly as a 1992 stock for example.

The power is upped on TBTC. It's the schedule regulation server that makes them run slowly.

Are you sure they are now running on 100% power? because they seem to acccerate no faster than they did when they were in Manual. I heard somewhere when all the line is fully ATO they will boost the power on the 96 stock making them faster is this going to happen?

As said in the post directly above you, AFAIK they can go full power but as the timetable is built around the old manual driving, at the moment the trains are not using that full power to avoid being early and bunching up.

To me they feel faster than both Central Line and Victoria line stock but whether they run at high speeds depends on the timetable I think.

I've felt the full roar of TBTC when they were running PM only on the 11th Dec. Took hellfire to a whole new level ;D ;D ;D It's the SRS that gives lower target speeds and hence it changes.
