Hi,
I am currently completing a dissertation for an MSc in Quantity Surveying at Heriot Watt University. My dissertation is titled "Why did Metronet fail and what next for the London Underground".
I am currently at the research stage of my project and wanted to conduct a number of telephone interviews with former Metronet employees to discuss with them what they felt went wrong. I would particularly like to focus on the technical aspects of the infrastructure improvements on the underground. Did the staff feel that they had enough time to work on the tracks? Was the task much bigger than Metronet had first envisaged? I would also like to focus upon the relationship between LUL and Metronet which appears to have been a cause for cost overruns.
I envisage any interviews to take 20 -30 minutes and I do intend to record the interviews so that I can refer back to them. If however you only had ten minutes to voice your opinions that would be fine any help that I could get would be gratefully received. Also if you would rather your interview remained anonymous that would also be fine.
I would like to conduct these interviews ASAP. If anyone who has worked for or with Metronet could get in contact and help me out that would be fantastic! I look forward to hearing from you!
Please e-mail me at dtg3@hw.ac.uk
Kind Regards
Denis Gleeson

Correct forum protocol is to invite people wishing to contact you to PM you. It is not wise to put your e-mail address on public view.

Correct forum protocol is to invite people wishing to contact you to PM you. It is not wise to put your e-mail address on public view. Not hello, welcome to the site etc? I've had a quick look at the DD forum rules and can't see anything about this in a quick flick through. (It's generally advisable not to put e-mail addresses on a forum, however that is more to do with not getting yourself a ton of spam rather than for the benefit of other people, and I have never heard of it being "correct protocol" to have PM responses) Anyway hello and welcome to DD. I'm sure there must be ex-Metronet people on the site, and some may have the time/wish to get in touch.

You have the option to hide your email address in your profile (though forum staff can still see them) - so displaying your email addy to all and sundry is a matter of personal choice. We have entertained many university students on this forum in the past, with their initial posts very similar in format to the OP in this thread; I'm sure we'll continue to do so in the future as well given the respected standing this forum enjoys. Hopefully that clarifies things. @ Denis - we do indeed have a number of former Metronet staff here so hopefully they'll see this and help you out
