The only drawings I can find are on p122 of John Gillhams mighty tome on the W&C.
The drawings are an extract from the Proceeedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has side and end plans.
On a related note, I think it is a great shame that the 1901 bogie engine wasn't preserved.
EDIT: the one ICE paper about the Drain that I can find on line isn't the one with all the drawings in, unfortunately.

they are the only drawings that i could find too, I suppose I will have to pay a visit to shildon to get the details. the bogie one was the other one that is on the cards to model at some time.

I'd be interested in any detailed info on that loco - apart from the vague stuff that replicated everywhere, 4w4w, Durnsford Road power station, etc.
Should I be putting this in a new thread ?

Possibly in a new thread if there's any more detail apart from the magnum opus by Gillham concerning the Drain.
I wonder what there was in either/any of the Railway Mag. or contemporary trade gazettes?
EDIT: given that the OP mentions 040 (Shouldn't it be Bo [or 4wBE??]) I think if anymore detailed information appears about the bogie locomotive, that should properly belong in another thread.
