I noticed a while ago that when waiting at Bond Street on the west bound platform, that the sound of approaching trains is much quieter, obviously as a result of installing modern track. No longer the familiar sound of the train thundering down the tunnel as it approaches, you can even hear the motor whine as it slows down and stops at Oxford Circus. Do they intend to install this kind of track throughout the deep level sections, or is it just being done where sections of the track are replaced due to being life expired?

I've noticed this too. However, there is a different noise, you can hear trains echoing quietly even when they're a station away... I'm assuming this is because the new track is continuously welded.

I spotted this at Mile End and at Bank - however the track replacement programme on the Central Line is by no means new...have a look here on YouTube...
They also explain the types of track and how they are replaced.

Does the westbound Piccadilly line tunnel approaching Kings Cross have a similar type of rail?

I knew central line track replacement was nothing new, but the type of sleeper is relatively new isn't it? I wonder if the new concrete sleepers have some sort of damping membrane

I wonder if the new concrete sleepers have some sort of damping membrane Not sure on the membrane. Concrete sleepers have been around for a while, I don't know the exact dates but they were installed in the 1990's on the Central Line in the outer sections. As for the concrete sleepers being used inside the tunnels I don't have a clue about them at all...I would think they are relatively new. Found another video on the track replacement on the Central Line.
