It is reported in Rail magazine that the class 313's will be withdrawn from the North and West London lines after Feb 19th as the closure between Gospel Oak and Stratford will mean that enough 378's will be available and by the time the line reopens further 378's will have been delivered.
However 313's will continue for the time being on Euston to Watford Junction services.

wow just over three weeks of 313's left running on the nll, that does seem weird! I will miss them in a weird sort of way I hope the last 313 goes with some celebration like the last unrefurbed D78 on the district.

However 313's will continue for the time being on Euston to Watford Junction services. How many trains will be needed on the NLL / WLL when the line is closed between Gospel Oak and Stratford? Only two more 378/0s need to be delivered for there to be enough for the NLL / WLL services (including two spare units). These will have to be delivered by the end of April for them to be in service by the time the line re-opens. There are 13 class 313s in service. The DC line needs 6 units, so LO will probably keep about 8 of them until the 378s can be used on that line.

Sacre Bleu! Time to get some pictures, without hopefully being hassled. I filmed 313122 at Willesden Junction High Level on Monday:

I have read on another forum that 313121 and 313122 are now stored at the PRDC.

313121 was stabled at Watford Junction today - is it back in service, and if it is, has one of the units that was still in service (units 111/113/115/117/119/120/123/134) gone to Southern?

Class 313s; or have I misread astocks post? Astock said "one of the units that was still in service (units 111/113/115/117/119/120/123/134)". These eight should only be working the Euston - Watford service now. (313s are also still in service on their original home on the GN line)

Report on se-gen that 313117 & 313119 are now both off lease and have headed off to Stewarts Lane
That's leaves 111/113/115/120/121/122/123/134 with LOROL (I'm presuming 122 has come back to play after a brief time at PRDC)

Some 313s are going to the Southern, and their pantographs are being removed to make them lighter.

This unit was at Watford on 06/02/10 at the same platform Some 313s are going to the Southern, and their pantographs are being removed to make them lighter. I think you will find that the pantographs are being removed because they are not required and they can be used for spares on the Class 313''s that work on the Great Northern services -weight is not the issue. 378151 is a DC only unit for the East London line. It was delivered to Willesden and used for de-icing on the DC lines in February, and was often stabled in platform 1 at Watford Junction. It is now in service on the ELL.

Interesting as most EMU's tend to become de-icers towards the ends of their working life not at the start!
As a matter of interest were any of the NLL Class 313's fitted with de-icing equipment?

The earlier class 501 units on the DC had a batch at the end of the series built as new with de-icing and it is a brace of these that went to Merseyside in the late 80's. The 313's are not fitted, as the only DC on their original home ground was in tunnel (except the platforms at Drayton Park) so a single 501 de-icer remained on the DC until withdrawl.

I was aware of the Class 501 de-icers on the NLL but I thought these were conversions after they had been withdrawn from passenger service, however they had all gone by the early 90's.
I understand that Class 121 DMU single cars were used after the 501's had gone
How has de-icing being carried out since the Class 121's stopped being used?

The 121 lasted for about 5 minutes, it being one of the sandite batch working out of Bletchley for a time but then there was nothing as witnessed by the lack of service by missing link. The 378 has been the first de-icer north of Harrow for many a year!
