SER Communications Rack
The Non Vital Data Communication (NVDC) network allows for monitoring and controlling of non-vital wayside functions and support of remote SMC operations. The NVDC is an integrated network configured in consisting of a number of rings consisting of and core and back-bone network switches. Each ring is connected in a redundant fashion to a core switch, and each link originating from a ring terminates at a separate core switch. The core switches are layer-3 switches and provide interconnectivity between wayside workstations and the SMC LAN.
The SER Communications Rack houses the equipment that provides the SER with an interface point to the NVDC.
