I'm aware this particular announcement seems to be popular with LU.
However, considering the gap at Victoria is less than an inch between a D stock step and the platform edge, is there really a need for it?
It looks as though you'd have to be a mouse to have a risk of injuring yourself missing the step?

The platforms at Victoria are on an S bend and in places there is quite a bit more than an inch gap.

I think the largest gap I've seen is Embankment on the northbound Northern Line.

Waterloo and Picc Circus Bakerloo are quite big. I think Waterloo is the tightest continuous platform curve. it once held the record for the largest number of CCTV monitors anywhere on the combine, I'm not sure if that still applies but in the days when most platforms with CCTV had headwall and midway cameras only, waterloo had multiple midway cameras and also held the record for the largest number of platform OPO monitors for a single platform. Picc Circus does have a large gap and adjacent to the four foot beneath the platform edge the yellow hatching painted over HT Mains ducts is clearly visible with a train in the platform and the gap lights illuminated. I'm not sure what the policy is for gap lights these days, they may be permanently illuminated, but at one time they used to be switched on as the train approached and dropped the platform tarck circuit.

Does anyone remember the experiment at Waterloo before OPO when a sensitive mat was fitted to the area along the track between the platform edge and the running rail? It was linked to some sort of camera which was used to photo incidents of people falling or slipping between train and platform. I recall being told that the most common trigger was of mice running along the mat. The next was people climbing down to pick up things they dropped.

Central line at Bank is the biggest I think, you can actually see the wheels and the shoe gear from the platform it is so wide!
