Tom, does that make the junction with the tracks that the District run over Wimbledon North Junction then? I understood that the 30 mph boards are there because of concerns over current drain by NR stock.
Many years before you were born and I was a lad, like, there was a SR green enamel sign stating "POINT PLEASANT JUNCTION" in white lettering, next to the junction with the Up Windsor Slow as it then was, i.e. at the bottom of the now-disused ramp from the overbridge that took to Up Point Pleasant over the Windsor Lines.

Wimbledon North Junction is the the District Line tracks, and the NR connecting line to the UMS, UMF and DMF. Trains going to DMS from East Putney will go to that at Wimbledon South Jn, which is where Thameslink lines connect up with the South Western division.
The 30mph is there not so due to current drain, but more so due to the track standards as I understand it. By that I don't mean maintenance is appalling, it's more due to the requirements of the route, mainly used by low speed District line services rather than the 75mph lines of the South Western slow lines. Of course, it was the original route from Wimbledon to Clapham Junction at one point!
Memories with the sign.... memories. It's those little things you can't forget!

Neither of the arguments presented for the NR trains being restricted to 30mph make much sense to me - now if someone had said that LUL stocks have far superior brakes when compared with NR stocks, the difference in speed limits would make more sense.....

Depends which rolling stock you're talking about for the braking compared to NR... I was definately told due to track wear NR have a lower line speed, as afaik LU stock is lighter. Similar to SP differential speeds on other NR lines.
