DIstrict Line Part Suspended due to a signal failure at Gunnersbury, but according to the Network Rail Website "...11:16 Due to further developments the disruption is now estimated to last until the end of service. ...."
Can anyone spill the beans regarding these extra developments?

its really weird because services from London waterloo are not running to Richmond they don't even go thro where the signal failure is must be more to it than that. replacement bus is in operation from clapham junction tho. just hope its all ready for London overground tomorrow tho or its off to a bad start already

Can anyone spill the beans regarding these extra developments? Vandalism, most likely. When Gunnersbury Junction got a full-depth rebuild a lot of effort went into repairing vandalism that had been allowed to rot.

Don't surprise me - or cable theft. Just wondering why they don't secure the route and operate under failure conditions - unless the damage is that bad.
Or perhaps Silverlink have just given up?

Indeed it is being caused by cable theft. I'm not sure exactly where the cable was stolen from, but it seems that there was quite a bit stolen, and, as stated, is unlikely to resume today.

they should state vandalism not signal failure in that case ! Wise or otherwise, that is what I told people on my train today! What amazes me the most is that 600m of the wire went missing apparantly... but the signaller didnt notice until 0515! Surely something must have been obvious before then!

I was at stratford at about 16.00 and a sign was being prepared saying that, in the legible parts of the scribble, that trains were terminating at South Acton due to vandalism at Gunnersbury.

I used code 140 for todays events.... sounded a bit stupid though leaving Chiswick EB "The District line is suspended between Richmond and Turnham Green . . . . . . . The next station is Turnham Green, change here for the District line to Richmond" .... I made a joke by telling my punters that "she" must have had a drink that is why she is not making much sense today ;D

I operated the first arrival of the day today (07.06 ex-HSt) arriving at 07.28 under clear signals. The only problems being the 2nd train-stops in platforms 6&7 not lowering at all, tripping every train!
Unfortunately the first departure (T53 07.29) departed empty due to not being prepared overnight by MetroMess, possibly the train technician not being able to get there the previous evening?

The problem with the overnight stabler at Richmond is that it is normally prepared at Upminster the previous night. Since it had been down there since Friday night, come Sunday morning it was outside its preparation time.
