Those toilets that do exist seem to be fairly anonomous ! Someone asked me last week if there were public loos at Earl's Court, I said no, since I've never seen them, however, Seth from this group told me there in fact are ! When I asked someone on the gateline at Earl's Court I was told there aren't any and was directed to the MacDonalds a couple of doors down from the station! We often use Earls Ct McDonalds after some of the evening Tube Challenges that are organised. The loos are situated through a door to the side so you don't even have to go through the main restaraunt. There are a distinct lack of loos on the Underground, which is particularly difficult when you are trying to visit all 275 stations in one day! Sometimes the only chance you get for a quick penny is at Epping or Upminster (or c2c from Upminster)

I've never known public loos at Earl's Court but to be fair I wouldn't be looking for them but I am aware of at least six locations of male staff loos in the complex and at least three locations of female loos. Mind you I've not had either occasion or need to visit staff loos outside the control room and office complex for many years and for all I know and indeed would expect there are probably more staff toilets on site than I recall.
Of course every station has staff toilet facilities although some leave something to be desired. Putney Bridge staff toilet as I recall flushed to an open sewer in the four foot in the platform area. If one wanted complete privacy one was careful to time the excretion of solids to when a train was in the platform! Mind you that was quite a few years ago and I really can't believe it has not been properly plumbed by now.

Many years ago I used to ask permission to use the staff bogs at Baker Street as the "invitations" in the public bogs were a bit blatant to say the least ....eitheR that or holding in 5 pints worth of ale to Harrow .......decent staff would permit BR staff to use facilities in the old train staff office.
Not surprised to see the number of public facilites decline with the above "issues"

The invitations at Baker Street haven't got any more discreet in recent times!
I've had to use staff facilities at Baker Street and Wembley in similar circumstances, thankfully at Harrow they keep the loos open (and they're free!) until very late on.
I have been known to use the occasional sand drag or snow drift when really caught short though, though it does help if the last train has departed in those circumstances!

Sand drags are notorious especially those in tunnel sidings! Wood Green was one of the worst and when I was running cable there years ago we used a lot of disinfectant to combat the odour! Another very notorious site was the Kennington loop where presumably drivers (who else could it be) left faeces in brown paper bags in the cable bracket run which we found when running cable there years ago!

I frequented it for many years and in the days before D&A it is where the telephone linemen coming on shift used to meet those coming off shift for a quick jar. I remember the place being a dive in the early 80s and then quite smart as Moriarty's in the late 80s. Baker Street is awash with toilet facilities being one of the largest complexes on the railway and with the staff accommodation, control offices, management offices, recruitment office, canteen and of course the BTP offices and Police station, substation etc. I think I used most of the available facilities over the years working there!

Richmond is about to go pay as you go too. Those toilets are bloomin convenient for a quick turnround (as usual!!). The staff ones are a fair trot away and next time I'm there i must remember to speak to the station manager to get the door code.

I thought that branches of MacDonald's were to provide free, clean toilets in our towns.
You wouldn't want to eat the food anyway.

Ref sand drags (and use of)....
There used to be a C69 very late evening terminator at Putney Bridge = which gave the well lubricated an option of "emergency fluid release" ......not having planned their journey or their tank capacity .......talking early 1980's here .......

With the toilet near the old Met Signal Cabin reported to be the best (and warmest). There are attendants currently at both the gents/ ladies public toilets - they are looking at funding for the cost, either from LU or by charging a fee.

That makes sense as I was pretty sure that it was company policy to take all the bars off the stations in line with D&A and of course the Met bar is technically outside the station although it is part of the complex. When I think of all the bars there used to be on the railway, I had a drink at most of them both public and staff only ones!

The gents' at Pinner is in good nick. Yes, as too are the toilets in Epping. On my journey to the end of the Jubilee Line this week, I noticed the toilets at Stanmore are very good. Neither of which ask passengers to charge. Although the toilets at Epping are relatively new - as part of the refurbishment and two new waiting rooms. Let's just hope the vandals don't have their wicked way with them!

Having never actually used them, I can't be 100% sure, but I assume they are in the room next to the Station Manager's office on Platform 2. I do have a code for that door, but it assumes it hasnt changed since i did my road training! All drivers should have this code with them, as this is the only place at Richmond where we have access to an autophone as well!

I think a notice up at the depots would be a good idea under the circumstances. i'm off for 2 weeks so i'll do it on my return.
